Two speaker locations in each 2gen doors...

Has anyone used both the locations? I'm currently trying to set mine up to use both and move my set of 6.5" in front of my head to keep a decent soundstage. I'm not sure which models had these upper door locations in them but my '90 does, and seeing as how the rear speakers always end up being too loud I thought I'd try this out. Anyone? I'm looking into some type of spacer material to bring the mounting depth up a little and I'm still looking into what type of grill to make in that part of the door. Any suggestions would probably be helpful.

Well, that's what I mean. Mine has one in the door currently, but there are two speaker cutouts there. One is higher up and would kinda be around the top of the armrest level. I just wondered if anyone else tackled this type of install yet? I'm not sure if I want to put in a metal grill or just a fabric cover over the speaker with a spacer to keep the surround from touching the fabric.

Thanks nillacaz, I figured someone would know about it. Is there a different door panel for the 6 speaker system? And where might I get ahold of one, anybody know? Otherwise I've decided to just get a generic metal grill and refurbish my door panel with it in there. I'll try to remember to let everyone know how it sounds compared to having the speakers in the shock towers.

Thanks for the info! I hadn't really thought about reupholstering that door panel altogether. I was thinking of putting in a plain grille to cover my completely wrong colored speakers to match the interior(kinda to keep them form being showy and getting my stuff ripped off again too ).
