HELP my FD won't go over 2500 rpm!!

as you know I just started my FD but I can't go above 2500 - 3000, i'm not sure what it can be...

here are the specs...

new ported motor
new power fc
aws/acv/dt/egr disabled (connects cut from harness)
non sequential
stock fuel
intake
Downpipe
Catback

I've started it over and over no problems...
I let it idle for 10mins here, 20 mins there

I took it on the street to test and as soon as i hit around 2500 rpm it cuts and comes back..

I know there is a learning cycle the power fc goes through, but i've been letting it idle

I also changed the turbo control setting on the pfc to non seq...

also, if i disconnect the battery.. do i loose all my settings on the pfc and does the pfc have to re-learn everytime i disconnect the battery??

any suggestions?? please.. it's been just over 2 years and i'm dying to drive my FD!!!

TIA

Here is a vid...

Hi Jay,

man, two years without an FD! I've been in Iraq for two months and miss mine desperately.

If you disconnect the positive terminal on your battery, just let the car idle for about ten minutes and it will relearn everything. The power fc has internal memory and will save all the settings.

Your problem sounds very odd.....I'm betting it has something to do with your coils/plug wires, or perhaps has something to do with all of your blockoff plates.

I couldn't access the damn video, so I'm taking shots in the dark here. What exactly is happening? will it rev past 2500 but starts to cut in and out? Check your plugs to make sure they're not completely fouled. Also, are you running the base maps? I sent my power fc to the geniouses at xs engineering for "mail order tuning," which was a disaster--as soon as I got on boost the car would run so rich that she began to violently cut out and wouldn't rev any more.

hope some of this helps--

Hey Rich..

yeah... long time.. i wish i still had my JaySpec7 account.. but oh well...

oh a side note.. glad to see you back from the war in one piece and in good health!!!

well.. lemme add a couple of things since I've read some other issues as i've been searching and searching...

I know this is not the typical 3K hesistation.. but it's like a fuel cut..

I've added a ground kit since i relocated my battery to the rear bin...

Do you think I need to change any settings on the power fc?? i'm using the maps it came with but i changed the setting to non seq...

also, i did mess w/ the TPS sensor... so i have to check that too...

I also read about testing it by unplugging the O2 sensor..

update....

I unplugged the O2 sensor to see if that would make a different... and it doesn't...

I then plugged in the stock ECU and now I can rev past 2500 with any fuel cut... so now i'm thinking it's a setting with in the power fc... maybe it hasn't learned enough?? I have no clue...

can anyone else help??

Hey Hey Stranger

Is it running rich? Black smoke? If so then you most likely need to enter a new map..........Go to your PIM and start taking out lots fuel starting at 2000 RPM and go up from there and see if that helps. You'll be able to tell if it's working by how smooth the motor revs. If it does then you know you need to make some fuel adjustments.

hmmm being sooo new to owning the power fc... and inexperience... i'm reluctant to mess with it.. it's been soo long since i've had my fd on the road... i don't want to screw anything up...

but i can look at the pim settings...

I downloaded spyfish's maps which includes, intake, downpipe, exhaust, midpipe and ported motor....

i have the same mods but no midpipe.... hmm also, do i need to change each cell that's different if i don't have the datalogit??

Installing the PFC for the first time runs and feels like **** for about 10 minutes, however, I never heard of anyone else experiencing your problem. It would be pretty funny if teamstealth was right.

Also, you can try sending Dave an e-mail, he will help you out. Actually, I'll be there in a few days getting my FD tuned, you should stop by.

Well, you could allways take off the PFC and see if the Stock ECU will allow you to run above 2500 if it does well then tell whom ever you bought it to send you a new PFC cause you have a Defunct one.

After re reading your post I knoticed you did that allready.. I would just complain to whom ever you got the PFC from and get a replacement.
