Question Air Filters and Air Intakes

In my 1991 Convertible I at the moment have a K&N High Flow air filter and a Bonez mid-pipe installed. I have a Bonez cold air intake sitting in my garage. Would it make any noticeable difference in performance or other aspects without a free flowing exhaust. Also, would it cause any problems to the engine? I doubt that it would but I wanted to be sure before I did it. If I do it, does the intake need to be mounted somewhere on the car for support, or can it just be attached to the air intake and left sitting in the engine bay on it's own. Thanks for the advice and instruction.

I assume that you are talking about the Bonez cone filter. I also have a 91 vert, and I have that same filter installed. You just remove the air filter box and install the cone filter to the end of the AFM. You may or may not see any real difference in power. It won't do anything bad to your motor.
