Is a 93 fd a good deal for $4000?
It has no motor though, needs a windshield, maybe a new paint job, Everything else is stock, it has 110,000 miles on it and a clean title. comes with tranny , interior everything is complete. just minus motor and turbos. Should i hop on it or am i getting myself into some ****?
$4k for a chassis in good condition isn't bad, but it does have 110k miles so there may be wear on other components, like tranny and suspension. It's a good start, but figure probably 3k for a new motor (good time to get it ported) maybe 1-2k for a new paintjob. If you're looking to invest 10-15k you could have a screamer.
It's a good deal if the body is clean, and the title is clean. I would get it checked out (especially the frame). But if all is in good condition, and you don't mind a project car, it's a good deal. If you have tools, money and time to work on the project I would jump on it, but that's just me.

The body is straight, my friend put it on the lift and the car looks great underneath. he said the tranny looks good, Clean title. I dont really have the time to work on it, who ever has the time, I also am building up my right hand drive 79 first gen, but i want this car for daily driving, my first gen has a bridgeport in it. not fun for the street. hehe.

sounds like a good deal, but be prepared to spend $5k or more to get it in good condition.
DO NOT BUY THIS CAR IF YOU CANNOT AFFORD THIS PLUS $5000 !!
It will take a lot of work to get it painted and put a new motor in it. SOme may argue with me, but it will definantly be up there.. Either way, 9k for a nice FD would be great, and this sounds like a good project.

*$4k for Mazda re-man (no core) rebuilt by KD Rotary
*$3k for new turbos, don't bother getting used or rebuilt
*$3-5k for a good paint job, a $1k paint job is **** unless your friends with a body shop or something
*$1.5k+ replacing worn out 110k mile parts - radiator, hoses, suspension bushings, etc
To me, that adds up to about $12k. Albeit, for a total outlay of $16k, your car would be in better condition than other $16k FDs.

*a Mazda re-man from Malloy Mazda is $2k + $900 core charge. Add in the cost for KD Rotary to rebuild it with reliabity mods and streetport.
*brand new turbos from people like Jesse Lau (cheapest I've seen) are $3k. Occasionally you see them on special for $2.5K.
*Even in less expensive places of the country, a good paint job is still over $2k.
*Have you priced out suspenion bushings? Mazda charges several hundred dollars to replace them all. A new radiator is $400. I don't see how my estimate of $1.5+ is excessive.
Also note that the prices I listed do NOT include labor. Not everyone has the desire or capability to drop their own engine in....
No matter what the price, the cheapest thing about an FD is the actual purchase price... and the cost of ownership may be a direct result of how much you paid up front.
