Car and Driver 10,000hp shootout, no rotary???

Anyone else notice that? There were some serious machines, street machines in this months Car and Driver, even the PFS Lexus IS, but there were no 7's? Last year they brought a 3 rotor that broke down, but they still broguht it. Lingenfelter got to bring 2 of his toys, PFS shoulda brought one of their machines..

PFS did bring a car.. the turbo IS300 was from his shop...

would have been nice to see a Supra, Sylvia, Skyline, RX7, WRX etc there... sad that there were only 2 JDM cars there....

Yeah the Rotary gets dissed a lot from magazine coverage and events. While not trying to sound like and @$$, but most of the time the RX-7's own most of the other cars.
Last years 3 Rotor had the fastest lap time and should have won first place. Not to mention it cost 1/2 much as the Vette.

Don't forget where the mostly stock FD beat all the other APU Supra's and other cars at the "G Games."

I wish there was more rotary content, maybe when the RX-8 comes out and the Rotary comes back into the public eye???

All I kept wondering while reading the article is why weren't other shops involved?
isn't there another jdm tuner capable of representin?

where is the coverage of tuner cars? you would think as honda biased as mainstream auto mags tend to be they would have had a tweaked s2000 or something!!

Yeah, I normally like Car & Driver, but that article was a joke. The quarter mile times of most of those cars were not that impressive considering the cost. Where's the Pettit Banzai? Or an Alamo Rotary 20B? Hell, there's quite a few forum members that have cars that are as fast that are at least as reliable/streetable. Especially considering that most of those cars were probably tuned close to the ragged edge (hm....didn't somebody's car run lean and blow a piston.. )

It was the IS300....and your right about the E.T.'s, really low but it shows no traction. The trap speed is about right though. The IS300 had like 600hp and only ran 13.5.now that I think about it, it's trap was low too!

all of the E.T.s were really low. The Lingenfelter corvette ran about the same as the stock z06, but did the entire track like 20 secs faster ( maybe no 20 secs, but im pullin all this from memory) and that bitch is twin turbo. They said they thought he was sandbaggin...

That article was such a waste of time. There's 15 minutes of my life that has been completely wasted. And add in the fact that it's Car and Driver .... is it any surprise that the Vette won again?

This is the same magazine that chose the 'vert Vette over the Boxster S, M Roadster, and the AMG CLK32 in a convertible shootout. Wow ... coincidence? I think not.

The vette prolly was staged to win due to the contestants that were entered. It's all publicity for the 15th anniversary C5 that will be out later this year as a 2003 model. Chevy is just bolstering their place int he market cause they darn know that sales for the vette ain't dropping anytime soon.

the only thing i can think of why their quarter times are down..... was because they were heading into a turn right after the sprint...... so they were probably slowing down...... but who knows
