Any 2nd Gen FCs interested in CF Hoods?

Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone out there is also interested in a carbon fiber hood for their FC. I'm having a friend who works with carbonfiber and fiberglass to make a mold of my T2 hood and build a CF hood for me. I'm not sure of the cost but I'd like to get a rough estimate of how many people would be interested and how much people are willing to pay for one. I know they're hard to get cuz they only have them in Japan.

I'll only get the CF hood, ONLY if it has a inverted scoop.

build it and we will buy...... really, no matter what anyone says "only if it has an inverted scoop"(no offense rexryder), if one gets made and is reasonably priced, many, many people will buy it!

just my 2 cents
oh, and i'll buy one depending on price, whatever style it might be

You will find there is a lot of inerest in CF products here. What you won't find is a reliable source of parts that are in stock ready to ship. What we have in the past is: "I need money to buy materials and make a mold." or " this isn't my full time job".
Get ypurself some seed money, take the risk build a mold and start popping out a quality product. Be able to ship them to your customers in 1 week after ordering, and I bet people will beat a path to your door. Do you have a way to transport them to a trucking company for delivery? Have you priced boxes and packing material to ship them? Just some stuff to think about.

Yes, there is ALOT of interest in a Inexpensive Quality CF Hood. I for one and tired of wading thru the pipe dreams. Just do it, show us your product adn be ready to accept and DELIVER hoods.

Why wouldn't you want an inverted scoop for an n/a??? My friend has one on his N/a and the damn thing can't get hot. If placed right it pretty much takes all of the hot air right out of the engine compartment. It really is quite an ingenous thing and Mazda really should have thought of it and product it on all S5 N/a's. Anyway yeah, a nice CF inverse hood and I would throw down.

What about for a TII? W/ stock TMIC, that wouldn't work. I think for starters, ya need to keep it simple. Stock TII and stock N/A hoods to get the line off the ground, then get silly. In the future, I would so be down for a Border style hood...

Quality product, ready to ship, no frills, no getting hopes up and then giving excuses, decent price (400-500 is expensive but thats the market!), and you will have a ton of business.

I suggest making a stock TII mold. Anything different will be criticized and harder to sell IMO. You can't make everyone happy, but everyone loves the TII hood. They sell used on Ebay for $400 and up every time!

Also, don't wait for people to say they'll buy one. This product will sell. 18,000 members, so even if only 5% of this crowd can fork up the dough, you've sold 900 hoods!

My $0.02

price is everything man. Price is more important than the style of the hood. (although inverted scoop would be great ) I would definetly be interested

Took the words right out of my mouth. I am highly interested in a stock TII hood. You mentioned that he worked with fiberglass, I'd prefer Fiberglass actually, but only because carbon Fiber doesn't take to kindly to paint.

I'm with your second comment, too. I might have the damn hood before the car!!

If you dont like how I do business, then dont buy from me. Its just as simple as that. BUT dont tell me how to do my business.

Youre kidding, right? There is no such thing. CF is expensive. You can only have one or the other. You can have an inexpensive cf hood, or you can have a quality hood. One of my friends just bought one of those inexpensive($500) carbon fiber hoods for his 99 prelude. The cloth it wavy, it doesnt fit that well, and its very flexible, and still weighs 19 lbs. If you want a quality hood, be prepared to spend $800 or more. It takes A LOT of time to make it come out right.
