Looking at another SA, questions.

OK, i found an 80 SA that runs and has some rust... inteior is ok but im not worried about it... the main thing i wana know is this...

1, why would the fuel flood the carb when the key is turned to the on position... i understand that its suposed to get fuel in there but it was completely flooded, small puddles and all...

2 I havent checked the body up and down but it seems to have a rust hole about the size of a beer can around the wipers, and some decent rust holes behind the rear passangers wheel, how repairable is rust and rust holes?

3 its got "84000" on the 5 digit read out, Needs paint and rust repair and its been sitting for atleast 3months, smoked grey when we did get it started, is it worth $400? I know thats a hard question without seeing it, so heres a pic

thanks guys
tim

it looks blue in the pic but its actualy painted green... NEEDS PAINT...
Primer Feels like itll work better , and some 2nd Gen Seats too

Makes me feel good about paying $500.00 for this 80 10AE in mint condition, so far I got $1000.00 total into it. But I bet she'll look pretty when you clean her up!

with the flooding as you have described, the needle and seats are probably sticking. the carb will need rebuilt for sure.

Well the rust is repairable or patch able, depending on what you want the car to be when your done. The carb probably just needs to be torn down and rebuilt, its not a big issue i wouldn't think. there are not that many 1st gens around NC so if you want it get it. Is 400 what they are asking or is that what you are offering? I would be tempted considering it spins over and cranks, and there is no major body work.

so where in NC are you?

im in Knightdale NC myself...

I tried to talk him down, but no go... 400 is bottom line... my problem is that the last time i owned a 1st gen, I drove it 3 times and it blew... and it was rusted to peices too... I duno, Im hurting for a 7 but i think i can find better if i wait but 400 isnt much for a car you can get in and drive though...
How hard is it to tear down a carb and rebuild? any rebuilders here for cheap?

however it does need Exaust Mani and Cat gaskets

nice mods Robs_seven if i end up getting it you wana help me fixer up? ive got an S5 Alt, wireing box and if i look hard enough, ive probably got a Dizzy and coils too, im just not sure about the work.
