Removing air pump any way to run smooth on stock ecu?

I purchased a replacement pulley kit from ebay, as I am replacing both drive belts on my car.

This upgrade will replace the stock airpump pulley and I have been reading up on some past exerpeinces and it sounds like the only way to run the car smooth without an airpump is to have an aftermarket ecu.. I have disabled the airpump and took it for a ride and in cold weather it was not that bad but during the day in hot temps the car would stumble hard and did stall once...

Is there any other way to tune the car without the airpump and still keeping the stock ECU?

It shouldn't stumble and def. not stall. Did you block off the holes when you removed the pump?

Mine runs like stock (but everything is blocked off).

Well wat i did was just disable the connection on top.
Left everything vented into the intake "airpump by pass into intake" and the one that sucks air in has a filter on it ...

AIrpump is still in place hasnt been removed yet..

Think my results will change once i fully remove the pump and put the new pulley system in place?
and where do i put block off plateS? cant i just capped the hoses or just take them off completly?
My car is a california spec car with an EGR valve would this cause any additional problems when taking out the disabling / removing air pump ?

I capped them off (ran good). And when I had the UIM off, I made my own block off plates (2). One went to the cat and the other went to the front (airpump).
