Fuel Pump/ Connection problem?

Would a fuel pump that's either going out, or that has a clogged pickup, exibit the same symptoms as an errant TPS?

I was having TPS problems, adjusted it to within spec, and drove it a little bit. A couple of blocks from home I started having some surging and - what feels like - fuel loss; On and Off power, what sounds like double sputter, and MAD jerkiness.

Odd thing, though, When my foots on it, applying constant pressure, the car drives fine. As soon as I let off - in gear - even a little bit, it starts to do that damned herky-jerky.

Could it be the pick up?

I just did a pretty stable tune-up: Changed air filter, Fuel filter (contents of which were BROWN), and 4 new spark plugs. When I initally started it, afterwards, it sounded GREAT (in comparison), and drove for a little while. Then THIS problem.

If your filter's clogging, she would drive fine at idle and low speeds, then jerk when you asked for more fuel, so that doesn't sound like your prob...

Did you check the TPS out through the full range?

Yeah. I checked the TPS, earlier, today, and it came back fine; adjusted, and all.

I even jumpered the fuel pump, to make sure it wasn't electrical....

Check out my NEXT post. You guys'll get a KICK out of THIS...

This goes to show you what, Boys and Girls?

a) Never buy a car from rednecks;
b) Never trust a deal for 150 bux;
c) Never do the sock-job;
d) All the above

$150 bux + 400, and running....

Guess I need to check the tank, itself, huh?

Don't even want to THINK how much a new tank's gonna cost....
Anybody gotta better FP for cheap? I found a Walbro 255LPH for about $100 on E.Bay...

Anybody beat that cost for better than stock?

Oh, BTW: IT REALLY DOES HAVE THE REEBOK LOGO ON IT!

So you're telling me if the fuel filter's clogged, she'll drive great at high power, but bog down at idle, huh?

Have you ever driven with a clogged filter???

Dood.... Didja LOOK at the pictures!??!

That sucker was clogged worse than Paris Hilton on an day that ends in "y"!!!!

Oh...wait.... Not the FUEL FILTER. I just changed that out. That's new, and was filled with dirty. brown gas. The Pump's PICKUP filter was clogged, not the actual inline filter.

Sorry for the miscomm.

He's telling you that you might try to replace the sock/strainer on the fuel pump.

It sounds like a tps problem also, but do the sock first since you said you checked the tps.

Trying to find JUST the SOCK (No comments)is a pain...

Umm, you have to pull the pump out of the tank...

But you already knew that, didn't you?

I presume you mean find a good replacement sock, right?
