KevinPowers ... unresponsive... anyone? anyone??

I bought an 82 radiator, oil cooler, and ss lines off of Kevin about 4 weeks ago.

Started out well, he was prompt in answering questions and quick to send photos.

After I decided to buy, I sent out a check for 210$ and he didn't want to send out the stuff to me at the same time because he was afraid of being scammed.... hmm ironic?

The check arrived a little late... post office was slow... I saw that the check was cashed from my statement and since then i've received one email from Kevin saying that he's had family issues. I've been trying to get back in touch by email and phone. He no longer responds to my emails or phone messages. It has been three weeks now. I was supposed to have everything sometime last week.

Now i've asked that he suspends the sale and just send back the 210$ but i've heard absolutely nothing back and that was 2 weeks ago that I asked that of him

Either very busy, very forgetful, or out to scam people's money... either way a very bad experience!

Just talked to Kevin, he's trying to get together funds to send back to me. Hopefully everything works out. Apart from that he's a good guy just in a bad situation.

I'm a little curious as to this statement. You say you were dealing with a dying aunt for the last two and a half weeks, but youve been posting on the forum during some of that time. Your profile shows that there was a 10 day window where you didnt post at all, but other than that you were posting like business as usual. If those posts were made from Oregon, thats fine, no problem--an IP check will tell us that. But if they werent, you've got some explaining to do.

Please keep in mind that this is not an accusation, but we have seen far too much of these things becoming scams in here. Thats why people think its a scam--because lately a lot of them really are.

Rut row raggy! Actually, John has been given permission by the admins/mods to investigate these types of things. Either way, if you are being truthful, sorry about your aunt.

Ouch! A little sharp there! Rx7Roller, yetterben, etc all have valid points and reasonable accusations. On the other hand, I did a search on "kevinpowers" in the bad and Fugly and found nothing, so I would have given the guy the benefit of the doubt. Kevinpowers though should have communicated the issue to his buyer right away so the delay would be understood. It's easy to over-react from either side whether your sending parts and trusting payment in the mail or visa versa.

Kevin,

Curb your emotions here.

Jon is authorized by me to look into these things. He has helped many members on this Club with issues like this.

I am going to advise you to change your password and not allow your friend to have access to your account. I have seen too many issues with this and they have all been bad.

whoa, slow down there, tex....

First off, read my post again. You will notice this:

Please keep in mind that this is not an accusation, but we have seen far too much of these things becoming scams in here. Thats why people think its a scam--because lately a lot of them really are.
No need for you to get all uppity about this post, I made it 100% clear that I wasnt accusing you of anything. I simply made an observation, and I am fully entitled to do so.

As for this being my business, when I spend my time and money to help people on this forum who have been scammed and ask for zip in return, and have the mods' blessing, it IS my business.

OK, now that we've got that out of the way....Your friend uses your account? Thats fine. No problem. Well, there is a problem actually--there is only one IP address being shown as ever having posted on your account here. So, either this is a made-up story about your friend, or he has a key to your house and uses your exact computer. IP addresses are funny things--they can pinpoint a lot more information than you may realize.

Now, I am going to tell another observation, strictly from my experience with investigating people. The post that I made, the one you replied to, would not typically get such an angry response like the one you gave, from an honest person. Again, this is just an observation, so dont get all wound-up. Hell, someone before me flat-out said you sounded like a lying scammer, and you said NOTHING to him. Only when I mentioned checking IP's did you get all defensive. I'm sorry if this offends you, but in my experience, someone who's telling the truth would not typically have gotten the red-*** over my post.

What does surprise me, however, is that you are definitely the one who was on here, at least some of that time, based on the posts themselves. Unless, of course, your "friend" sells parts too--which I doubt because he would just get his own account. Its free, and very little hassle to go through, for someone who advertises as much as you do that youre selling things. So, if that was him posting, there is no reason at all why he wouldnt have his own account--it isnt like its a guy just checking out the lounge, or thinking about getting a 7 or something, those posts are the same as all your other ones--from someone who is very involved in FB's.

You were online on 5/8/08, talking about selling parts:

https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...48&postcount=6

I have everything else you are looking for live in kent washington
That post was made at 1:08PM. Two minutes later, when you already knew you owed this guy money, youre trying to BUY a car....

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...56#post8172256

some gold mesh wheels and 300 bucks? i need a car asap
Looking back through posts, I didnt see anything at all that would have indicated that the poster was actually someone else. We know you sell a lot of parts. And, the person that was posting during the time you were in Oregon, from the same IP that you always do, was both trying to sell parts. Forgive me, but the similarities are glaring, even you in all fairness have to admit that. But then, trying to buy a car when you know this guy wants his $210 back, thats not cool.

I'm sorry dude, but not too many high school seniors have a friend living with them in "their" house.

Heres an idea--how about a plan to get him his money back? You keep saying he's getting it back, but a lot of people say that when they owe someone money. Youve obviously got income, youve been buying cars and parts all over the place since youve joined here. You claim to have owned two different supercharger setups for 7's, although you got BS called on you for the B&M unit, and although you promised to show everyone up with pics, you suddenly disappeared from that thread. Bottom line is this--you clearly have money coming and going....at least well enough that youre still trying to buy a car and selling parts here.

So whatever happend to the "82 radiator, oil cooler, and ss lines" parts you were going to ship him in the first place???? Or was this just some bullshit way to get a "Rx7Club" loan?

I've asked that he send me the oil cooler and we can work out the remainer of the 210$ shortly, hopefully soon.

Anywho, I've asked for 65-75$ for the oil cooler... that would be funds towards the 210$ Does this sound resonable?

Thank you

well, hey--dont get mad at me, youre the one who posted back in 1/07 that you were an 11th grader.....so dont get all pissy at me for saying that you would be in 12th grade this year.

https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...92&postcount=5

01-15-07, 08:11 PM

kinda gettin discouraged, i dont have that much money to play with here, damn cars are expensive for a 11th grader
While we're in the process, let me offer this to you--you insult me like that again and I will make a case for you to simply be banned. I am posting what I have the right to post. I spend a great deal of time, effort, and money helping people on this forum. I have not insulted you at all--if you cannot handle yourself appropriately, then kindly just stop posting in this thread. Your focus should be on getting his money back to him, not on insulting someone who has the right to be in this section looking into these incidents. As I said earlier, someone flat-out called you a scammer, and you had nothing to say--so why the big focus on me? What was it that I said that struck such a nerve with you? Perhaps, if youre interested at all in your reputation around here, you will remember that innocent people dont have reason to be so defensive when someone makes it clear that they are just observing. Its funny how you have nothing to say when someon calls you a lying scammer, but you get all hell bent when I mention IP checks.....something isnt right with that.

Anyways, lets stop the bitch-fest already and focus on paying this guy back like you should be. This isnt about you cursing me out--youre the one who is keeping him waiting, not me.

Powers don't be a dick.
RX7Roller02 has been rude to me in the past but from what I can tell the dude is standup and takes care of people who have been scammed and delivers justice where it's due. Something that doesn't qualify someone as a "******* moron".

This situation should show that you not have your friend using your account anymore. He can start his own account to use for his personal business. Also, rx7roller02 is a long time forum member. What you are saying to him right now can backlash and bite you in the *** later in the future when YOU need help from somebody scamming you.In other words, I don't believe it's been said by rx7doctor. When you use this forum to sell parts, the entire staff AND the entire member base expect's you to ship out parts PROMPTLY! Everybody on this forum lives near a UPS Store, FedEx/Kinko's, DHL or even your local Post Office. For a member to say I don't have time to ship out parts after receiving payment, is complete bullshit. I pass 2 USPS's on my way to work, 1 UPS Store, and 2 FedEx Kinko's, and I live in the country. If you do business transactions on this website, respect other people, and send out the parts promptly. When you took the check to the bank to cash it, TAKE THE PARTS WITH YOU! Is this hard to do?Let's clear this matter up. Thanks-row

Like i said contact his local police tell them the situation adn that you are going threw all the steps before you contact ic3.gov. They will go to his house and make him **** all over. Then they will give you the info for the local fbi field office in that region. He will then be indicted buy a federal grand jury. HE will then face charges for violating the inter state communication's act of 97. He then will be prosecuted under 18 U.S.C. § 1343 which is a very large area of wire fraud that includes the internet to further a scheme. Then the feds will have his local isp press local charges for using there service to further the scheme. When its all said and done he will get a 10,000 fine depending on his prior criminal activity since he was 16 the judge will then base his sentencing upon a point system.

http://www.ussc.gov/2001guid/1pta3.htm

end all he will probably get 18 months and 3 years probation for his little "LOAN"

they will pick up on the case no matter what the dollar amount. They will also forward it to the FBI which is who handles most of it. it does not matter if take 10 dollars or 10,000 its still a crime. If you need help with the fbi or ic3.gov let me know and that goes for anyone. Plus i have several friends here in my town in the federal office including one probation office and a united states attorney!
