underhood temps before and after cooling fan mod w/ infrared temp gun
i got my hands on a infrared temp gun for a couple days and decided to take some temps right after i shut down and 10 minutes later after the cooling fan mod shut off, results may not be too accurate but more test will come...
my mods are:
greddy intake
hks carbon ti
apexi pfc
datalogit (with fan settings at 80C, 85C, 88C)
efini y-pipe
at shutdown the PFC read:
water temp = 87C
air intake temp = ~49C
numbers:
upper intake pipe (middle of pipe) = 125F -> 118F
lower intake pipe (tip of pipe) = 103F -> 92F
UIM (middle) = 120F -> 131F
coolant filler body = 167F -> 173F
AST tank (top beside cap) = 144F -> 152F
efini y-pipe (at the middle of the Y) = 140F -> 138F
efini crossover pipe (middle) = 126F -> 134F
stock IC (side) = 106 -> 97F
stock IC (core/fins mid) = 113 -> 101F
stock rad (looking in through bumper) = 90F -> 84.5F
DP (looking down at it from engine bay) = 520F -> 393F
DP bend (under the car) = 350F -> 258F
I guess i should have checked what the PFC said for water/intake temps after 10 minutes as well. if you guys have any more suggestions on locations that i should check before and after please let me know, i will be doing this test several more times in the next couple days. i wasn't really happy with the way i took so long to get these numbers
