air compressor opinions

Not sure if here is the right place, but I'm filing it under tools to get stuff done. I have tried to find a reliable source on a brand of compressor for home usage. it will need to be able to keep up with sanders and the occasional HVLP. I was looking at harbor freight or sears. The pro experts say ingersoll rand is the brand to buy but the coast is to rich for me. I'm looking for a "prosumer" 2 stage compressor in the 500-1000 price range. Any suggestions?

Have you checked out GarageJournal? Both pros and average Joes detail their opinions and experiences. You'll find the most information the fastest by restricting a google search to their site.
