2JZ FD - I Just Couldn't Wait Any Lon ger! ^.^

Ditto!
Looks like I found my replacement R154 tranny locally, and the guy even knows my brother very well which sweetens the deal even more. He said he could help with my Power Steering conundrum and maybe even with replacing the distributor system and going with the GTE-style coil packs. Woot!

Quick update.
The guy working on my car finally got sick and tired of the distributor system and installed the GTE coilpacks along with the assosciated parts needed to make it work, TPS, and ECU, etc.
Cool. Finally solved THAT problem.
Now he's also saying that he is just modifying the original custom fabricated intake manifold to work. And he's also installed a Q45 throttle body, and is going to apparently weld a 90-degree elbow of some sort as part of the intercooler piping.
Apparently these upgrades and others were meant to be more of a gift/surprise to me...And here I thought he was just taking his sweet time. Now I feel like a jerk for kind of rushing him! Apparently my brother has been in on this all, too. lol
It definitely sounds like it's getting crazy though, I tell you. I asked him about what he ended up doing for a radiator, and he mentioned that he went with an aftermarket older model Chevy Camaro 2-row radiator, that apparently has the fittings in all the right places, and is the right length, etc..
Craziness.. I'll be interested in seeing pics of that, myself! lol
I've been begging him for pics all week, and he says he will get me some on Saturday...even if the car is still in pieces. lol
He's going to try and have the car done by the end of April. He's trying to make everything right, as if it were his own car...so, as crazy as everything seems...I still trust him when he says that.
So, as I figured, the car should be ready some time in May, by the time it's tested, tuned, and 100% road-worthy.
*deep breath*
So yah, stand by for pics within the next couple days.
I'm just as excited, curious, and scared as the rest of you. lol

A few updates:
As previously-mentioned, the car now has GTE coil-packs and plugs along with all the supporting electronics like TPS, ECU, etc.
Here's a nice shot of the engine bay as it sits right now, minus the intake manifold and valve covers.
Some nice pictures of the actual car.....EXTREMELY dirty (as usual...*sigh*)
Nice little shot of the back-half of the car...
I definitely think I'm gonna mold those APEX-i side-skirts when I get the wide-body fenders put on.....I like the way they line up with the stock mud-guard flaps...Looks stock, but GOOD.
More pics and info over the next few weeks, as the car gets finished up, hopefully.
*crosses fingers*

Radiator installed. Looks like he may still need to fab some kinda brackets though.
(I'm gonna have to get some engine bay components all chromed up one of these days...lol, looks so dirty! :P )
The only things left according to my builder is that he needs a replacement GTE oil-pump, crank sensor, and wiring harness, fan relay and fan controller....oh, and get the intercooler piping welded up, and finish the plumbing on the radiator too.
If he had the parts he needed, he says he could have the car could be up and running by next week.
I gotta wait till my paycheck on the 15th to send him more money though! lol doh! >_<
It's "crunch time" though, folks! Stay tuned for more pics as the initial installation nears completion!

UPDATE: June 15th, 2011
Been a while since I updated everyone, but I wanted to share some good news and updates.
Besides some additional gaskets and various electronic components, I just sent my FD guy the last bit of cash he needed to pick up some parts locally, as well as ordered the following parts from Summit Racing, which he should have at his house tomorrow.
3000CFM Electric Radiator Fan
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HFM-ZFB16S/
Temperature Switch for the Fan
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLX-31147/
Dakota Digital Speedometer Adapter
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DAK-SGI-5/
AEM UEGO Wideband Sensor Kit w/ Gauge
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AVM-30-4100/
And locally he was able to find:
2JZ-GTE MAP Sensor
2JZ-GTE Igniter
- From what he tells me, all of these parts are the last known parts that he needed to be able to get it running, so I'm SUPER excited to hear that.
- Once he has all these parts in-hand, he should be able to get my baby running within the next few weeks. I'm pushing him to have it put together and running within the month of June.
I'll post pics as I get them, of course.
I'm so excited though, guys!! It's finally nearing completion!
In the mean time, I'm picking up a few here's and there's for the FD. Couple interior plastics, etc.
I'm coming into a little bit of money from the Government from a car accident I was involved in, so that outta help give the final "push" I need financially to finish off this extremely long and drawn out project.... x_X
Stay tuned for some conclusive posts and pictures!

Excited doesn't even begin to describe it!
I'm friggin' S T O K E D ! ! ! !
@_@!!!!!!!!!
I'm picking up some 19X8.5 iForged Retro's w/ tires this weekend, too!
I was thinking about running them temporarily on my 2011 2.0T Sonata since they're not a staggered fitment, but I think they would look GREAT on the FD too.
...Definitely a unique more "luxury performance" look for the FD, I think.
I love Works, Volks, and WEDS like the next guy, but there's something about that "luxury performance" look that I think would really excentuate the look I'm going for with my FD...
Only thing is though, I think if I want any hope of keeping traction once this beast is running...I really need to be running 18X10 or 19X10's with 295+ series tires in the rear. LOL No "hellaflush" crap with my ride.
Right now, I'm told that the car should be able to handle 18-20psi on 91-octane just fine...so now I'm thinking the car is probably going to make upwards of 450+rwhp at this point. My goal was 400+rwhp....so that would work for me! ^.^
Man....I think my head is going to explode from all this anticipation
XD!!!

If you are interesting in absolutely nothing but the best-handling car imaginable,I'd probably try an LS1 swap before a JZ motor, but the JZ won't ruin the handling like all the rotards on here would like you to believe.

never fear, I is here

Less than you'd think, from what I've been told. I've talked with a few people (one with a 2J, and one with a 1J) and both said that they barely noticed a difference, and that in any street condition they couldn't tell a difference. It might be a little bit different on a road course, but I don't suspect that is anyone's intended use when doing this swap.

Kinda sorta not really.
I am going home to Georgia next week till Sept. 11th and I'll be seeing her, taking a bunch of pics, and getting the final D/L on where she stands and what is left.
For now, I'm told that because I swapped from to the GTE coil-packs and wiring, that my guy workin' on it is having some issues.
Supposedly EVERYTHING else is done though.
We'll see.
Stay tuned...REAL updates coming soon, though.
Ugh...It upsets me to see my updates from like 2 months ago where I was being told it was really "close" to being done...and here I am still...
