Car starts but won't stay on

Hello all. Just purchased a 1986 rx7 gxl. Car was running and impounded from no licensed driver back in November. Sat in the tow yard up until Friday. Tow yard workers tried to get the car started and it I'm assuming flooded the heck out of it. I went and check it out yesterday. Did the egi fuse trick and after about 10-12 tries I managed to get it to start. It idled for about 2 mins then cut off. Had to do the egi trick again to get it started. And again cut off after about 2 mins. 3rd attempt I started it. Tried to drive it off the lot. 1st gear sputtered then picked up speed then switched to 2nd and completely cut out and died. Decided to tow it and it sits as is now. Any idea why it cuts out after a couple mins? Thanks in advance

Re

This should possibly be the issue with your gas or the tank. I had this issue before and I got it fixed from a car care center in Etibicoke called Service Plus. They cleaned my tank and now my car doesn't have the cut-off issue.

yeah definitely bad gas, 10% ethanol gasoline starts to become "bad" at 3 weeks old generally.

Gasoline does not go bad that fast, I had a Honda CRX that was rear ended sitting for 5 years and after letting the fuel pump cycle a few times, it started right up, the local fuel has ethanol in it.
