Big Coolant Leak coming from near the right side of exhaust, behind the motor. Crazy

Just bought a FD last month, didn't even register it to my Name yet... And it was overheating a few days ago, so I put in a new thermostat, it stopped overheating but now has major coolant leak problems.

I don't know how this is possible since the leak is coming from the Under carriage, behind the motor next to the exhaust. There are no Coolant lines running back there, and No it's not Gas!

This is some Crazyyy Shiittt!!

I was only able to put 2.5 quarts of Coolant, and when I keep filling it, the rest would leak...

It also leaks after shutting down the car, or me reving the motor a bit. But then it stops when it's just sitting there.

Motor was rebuilt 3K miles ago.
Chassis has 119K miles
1994 Mazda Rx7

I'm going to take it easy for awhile and save up money...this is too much for me haha. Maybe next year I'll fix her up.

It's Raining Coolant underneath the FD!!😖😓😵😵😵

that looks like water, not coolant

sure your heater core isn't leaking like a siv inside the car? or a bad heater core hose?

Water?? Hopefully it's water...but it smells a little sweet and it's bit colored like the Prestone Coolant.Where is the Heater Core Hose, I definately have to look that up.

Because dexcool and regular antifreeze are NOT made to mix, your 3000 mile rebuild probably just turned into another rebuild, your going to have gel buildup in the cooling passages, and the longer you let it set, the more expensive the rebuild is going to be

Flush the system fully immediately, find the leak, and fill with old fashioned green freeze, and hope not much damage has occurred, drag your feet, there will be damaged

I'm pretty sure there are freeze plugs in the back housing of the engine. If one of those cracked or what not it'll pour out of the back of the engine. Is the leak coming from between the bellhousing and the block? If not then I may be wrong. I saw something similar on an rx8 at my buddies shop. Just a thought.

It's probably not your heater core. If it was you'd first have a big puddle in your passenger floor. My guess is it's the AWS hose (which is in the back of the block), or the heater hose on the passenger side and lesser the turbo coolant hose. Take off the undetray so you can see better where it might be coming from. And definitely change out the Dexcool. If your coolant hoses are original, you should change them.

Yeah it seems like its leaking between the Transmission and Motor...I'll check the freeze plugs.

Yeah inside the Cabin in the Passenger side floor is not wet at all, but the other Day it rained and my Windshield fogged up and the Defroster was not working one bit...its a possibility it could be the heater core.

But I'll definately check those Hoses thank You.

Yeah and it even said GM on the bottle, Guess I went for the more expensive antifreeze and turned out bad...I'll try to flush it as soon as possible!!

But I've also read some other people use that in there FCs, hope it doesn't turn as bad as you said it would! 😬

Interior condensation could be a sign of a leaky heater core and also of leaky weatherstriping when it's raining. If you're getting condensation when it's dry outside (several days after a rain), that could be your heater. That said, you will definitely notice a lot of water inside your cabin (not just condensation) based on the river you have under your car if it was coming from the heater core.

So here is the Heater Hose... I believe this is where the leak started from because it's right above the Metal heat shield by the Down Pipe.

I gave it a little squeeze, no drip...but then again it only starts to leak when I rev the motor above 3k rpm...This also links to the heater core right??...do I just change the hose and the seal around it?? Or do you think it's a Good Idea I check out the Heater Core as well?
