[UK] Question about boost gauge on S5 TII Cabriolet

Hi All! My name is Simon, I'm from the UK, I currently live in Scotland, about 10 miles away from St Andrews. Some of you I'm sure will know where that is from the golf! I'm a driving nut, I'll happily drive anything with an engine - I drive buses every day as my job. My daily runabout is an abused Merc E300TD Avantgarde, complete with "of the era" rubbish paintwork. Other than driving I am a fully qualified bicycle mechanic, specializing in suspension forks and shocks. I have been a member of the forum a long while, but mostly just been reading other threads.

I've owned 3 other RX-7s, two FCs, one FB. But never a turbo, so, a question about my first. It's UK Spec T2, with everything apart from the exhaust, suspension and wheels stock.

While I was driving it home, I noticed that the boost gauge only ever crept slightly above the 0 position under very hard acceleration, right to the redline. At idle, it sits at the bottom, which I'd expect, but with the engine off but ignition on, it also sit right at the bottom, where I'd expect it to be at 0.

The exhaust is so loud I can't hear the turbo spooling over it. (If anybody in the UK wants a loud stainless twin exit for their FC, it might be up for swapsies for a quieter system!)

Can any FC TII owners tell me where their boost gauge needle point with the a: ignition on, engine not running, b: ignition on, engine running, c: what the highest point it points to on a stock engine is, and d: where it generally points during normal driving, eg holding about 60mph for example.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Without the engine running it should read ZERO.
at idle it should be in Vacuum.( Vacuum will vary depending on your engine condition or modifications done internally)

Thank you, I'll find somebody with a standalone boost gauge and test it with that. I'm going to make an assumption here, I know assumptions are dangerous... If the pressures are otherwise normal, before replacing cluster gauges, I can just realign the needle by pulling it off the gauge, and putting it back on pointing to zero with the ignition on, engine off.

I have "adjusted" many speedo needles like this. Although its damn awkward fiddling like that holding a steady 30mph, even on a straight flat road! I know this is a minor thing, but I also know it will bug heck out of me if it doesn't vaguely point right.
