Mallory Ignition Coils for Hyfire 6AL
I'm running dual Mallory Hyfire VI AL CD ignition on my 12A Modified solo car and need to get the right coils. I was looking at the Mallory 30625 (recommended for 4,000 RPM to 12 RPM) or 30440 (up to 8000 RPM) and using dual coils. Like a road racer, my RPM range will be all over the place. I figure my max RPM will be above 8,000. do these recommendations hold for rotary's with dual coils? Which ones to I get?

I misread this the first time. If I understand your setup correctly, you are running dual coils with a waste-fire setup. With rotaries and CDI i have always used 4 coils, although many people use the waste-fire setup with s5's (not CDI) because that was the factory ignition setup. With a rotary, ignition and injection is the same to the computer as a four cylinder in respect that there are 2 combustion events per revolution, with one exception-the rotary fires 2 spark plugs per combustion event. If you run waste fire, you will have half the dwell time of a normal engine cause double the spark than a 4 cylinder, in other words a coil rated to 8k will be good to 4k rpm. I am not that good with the physics of waste fire and all, so some of my explanations may not be accurate. I can tell you i tried a wastefire on one of my 13b pp's one time and the coils overheated and lasted about 3 weeks, and my power above 8k was much much better with 4 coils.
