I have a friend with a CNC so he was able to help me re-drill the FB shift select rod and then shorten it. There may be some better threads, but I think this is the original: http://www.rx7club.com/forum/1st-gen...rans-fb-51160/

    This has some more info:

As for mounting it, you can use the stock FB trans mount on an S4 trans. You just need to redrill the crossmember to allow for the bolt holes to line up. Then, you just need a 3/4" aluminum spacer either right under the flat part of the trans or on the crossmember mounts.

So, I gave my guy 40.25" for the length. Probably could have been fine with 40.5, or maybe even 41. But, the driveshaft is done, made and installed in the car.

Tell me more about the spacer. It looks like I'll need to take out my existing rubber mount and replace it with something shorter, is that what you're referring to? My tranny crossbar rubber mounts are shot. Hopefully I have a spare.

Thanks. I measure 40 1/2" on mine. That's done by taking 90" as the length from the diff flange to the motor mount bolt. Then subtract out 16" of length for the keg & motor mount flange, and 33.5" of length for the tranny to the center of the slip yoke holes. That's what my driveshaft guy wanted me to measure - center of the slip yoke hole to diff flange.

What are you doing for the TII center mount and how about the shifter location?

Do you have the dimensions & part info on the driveshaft now that you got it made? I need to do the same, and would like backup dimensions without having to drop my motor in only to pull in back out again after measuring. I have a 13BT motor with a 1988 TII Tranny and GSL-SE Rear end. Thanks in advance, Dave
