I do agree that even a stock newer Si will beat most N/A FCs in a drag race. But I think you need to consider maybe you havent been in any well modified N/As FCs either to get a good comparison.
I've driven every gen rx7.... I own a 4xx whp vert.... I have owned every gen except first gen, and will always have a 2nd gen.... As a person who owns both and have worked with rotary's for about 7 years.... I am saying that the si handles better stock for stock, even with good tires... Im not bashing, Im just expressing my opinion.... If you are having doubts, see if you can test drive one, and just take it around the corner pretty hard, and you'll see that the grip is insane... especially for a FF car..

I am not here to argue, but the first pic is a 06, trust me, it is from the honda website,Back when the preproduction cars can out we get one of each color, so it is easy to verifiy which car is which. I cant find the pics of the si I drove but it was a red coupe. If you look at the second pic you can see the others under car covers behind it. FWIW I just preped 14 Jaguar xk8 that went to cobo for a shoot, so look for a jag add with xk8's and R's on the beach.

good link to the blue hatchback site:www.hondacivic.info 2006 honda civic hatchback

I actually test drove one about 2 months ago when i was looking for a new DD.. (ended up buying an impreza), and honestly I was very impressed with the car. Chassis seemed stiff and cornering was pretty good for a FWD car, but I just dont know if it would hang with a T2 or not. But I guess the fact that I am even questioning it shows the car has some capabilities FWIW Ive had every gen Rx7 as well, from a GSL-SE, more FCs than I care to count, and now my FD.

I admittingly know very little about civics, but are you sure about this? I test drove an '02 Si also, and it is the same as the picture you posted. Here is an '02:

I KNOW that the blue hatch comes with the same motor as the 06 si coupes, but the body style looks close to the same.

not sure but i know both came with the k20 motor and they both seem to have the same hp and tq numbers. probably the same motor
either way..a civic is a civic, i doubt theres going to be a drastic difference between the two

Ok, where do I start.... Just because they have k20 motor doesnt its the same motor... Im not gunna really get into it, but between the coupe and hatch there is a difference of 50hp,1 gear, lsd, a nicer sound system, nicer interior setup, and better handling.... O and you guys favorite... "REAL" VTEC!!!!

I just recently got into honda's, but I will always have and love rx7's.....

It looks like you dove head first. It's as if you search the kills section for the word "Honda" and jump in to defend it in every thread that pops up.

The new Si is a hideous mini-minivan. The power isn't that great, and it's FWD. If power numbers are identical, the LIGHTER RWD car WILL win. Physics dictates that FWD sucks, so stop hugging Hondas nuts. For the most part they are nice decent cars, but you seem to feel that they are actual sports cars rather than the sport compacts that they really are.

This story is 100% believable, so don't try to detract from his kill with your Honda humping. Thank you.

Hideous mini-van?? Are you ******* STUPID??? Its a Coupe you moron... I can't believe I was blind to all this arrogance on here... And no, I wasn't looking for honda kills it just pisses me off that everytime a FWD car is involved you ******* hate for no reason. FACE THE FACTs rx7's arent the fastest cars in the world.... And Yes, just so you know, they can be beaten by FWD cars... Everytime a 2rotor gets to 500whp you ******* jump on the dick... There are stock block 4cyl putting that power out and more with no problem...

Dear Martin,
I can understand your wanting to defend your newly found passion for Civics. I just really dont understand why your on here, saying that I'm full of Bullshit??? You have no place to say anything about my car, or my word. And why didnt you respond to my reply about what type of porting was done. Could it be that you know a Judge Ito template is a good one, and that its very possible I could achieve 220? crank (191 rwhp)? You just jumped on the "Defend the Civic" train.

I have to agree with ya. Martin needs to get over it, he runs his mouth. Call me out when he doesnt know **** about me or anything about you. FF is fighting physics, the only benifit is a economicly built car with less parts. Hondas are nice if you have a long commute or you are to cheap for the gas to buy a faster car with less MPG. So again, unless your talking about an s2000, get over it, your modding a econo box.

That, and less parasitic drivetrain loss due to no driveshaft, or rear axle housing. It may not comply with physics from a dead stop, but at highway speeds where your weight isn't being thrown around, its not as big a deal.

Im not gunna repeat this... I mentioned up above that congrats on your kill... If you have 191whp then itll be a good race, but 3 cars w.e. Im not gunna get into it again.. Simple as that... And yes those ports are good and you are making good power for n/a...

First of all, if I cared about gas I wouldn't of gotten an si... I spend more money on gas/month than the actual car payments including insurance... And why would I need a faster car with less MPG when I have a 4xxwhp fc at my house? And if I wanted more power than that, I would just build another motor with a completely different setup...

Martin,
How much power do you believe a civic Si is putting to its front wheels?

They make about 197hp at the flywheel, so 7hp in parasitic losses sounds unrealistic. Do you have dyno proof?

Take a look at these dyno photos. These are of an 06' Si, with intake header and exhaust:

Did that dyno chart come from an online thread you could provide a link to? I find it hard to believe it makes that amount of power stock, when the dyno above shows 197whp with mods, while most others are only making 18x at the wheels stock.

ANd if you doubt the numbers... I can show you the sheets of the other fg2's who dynoed and one was with I/H/E and One was I/catback.... The stock made 199, I/H/E 201, and I/catback made 200.... The first one was just broken in hard....

BTW Here you go http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7416

Look around, there are the other 2 that dynoed on the same dyno...

Edit* I posted this on the first or 2nd page of this thread...

Then the 197whp of the I/H/C I have above is in line with the 201 the guy made in your example. However, 199 at the wheels is rather odd, especially when you consider that he made what the other cars did with bolt-ons. Removing the filter isn't stock though, and along with other factors could account for the additional power. I believe the others in the thread agree though, that 180whp is about right.

I know in other cars I've seen tested, the addition of a straight pipe which removes the usual ribbed pipes to the air box, add as much as 5rwhp.

Alright, this is the biggest thread of stupidity I've ever seen.

First off, I'm usually the biggest honda hater here, but you've got to realize, the little Civic Si (the new ones) are not slow.

And the 2 1/2 car lengths is just bull **** I ran a 14.7 and my boss ran a 14.1 in his 350z, on video he wasn't even a car length and a 1/2 ahead at the strip...so that must mean your car is running like 10's right if that Civic does 14's/15's...THINK about it...Yes the RX-7's are awesome but they are outdated and N/A usually they can't hang with most cars, yours is different because it's SP...let a civic port the heads, etc and it'll whoop your ***...doesn't mean I'll like the civic, just means that I face the truth and don't gloate about anything that doesn't exist.
