Items to ship were to be in accordance with an RX7Club.com PM dated 06/03/09 between seller (andresj) and buyer (jal301) in which the buyer requested that the seller confirm several vital characteristics of (1) pair of Mazda RX7 tail lights, (1) pair of associated bulbs and wiring harnesses, and (1) license plate holder. Buyer repeatedly requested that seller confirm that all items were free of cracks and chips in very specific areas including the perimeter of the lights as well as confirming that there were no cracks in the face of the tail lights. Seller positively confirmed that that they items were free of defects and stated that the items were in good condition. Pictures were requested by the buyer and supplied by the seller to confirm the condition of the items. Items were then received three weeks later in a broken-down box which had been re-taped in order to form an irregularly-shaped, triangular box - similar to the shape of a wedge. Buyer immediately inspected items and noted that they had been poorly wrapped and packaged for semi-fragile items with delicate edges. Buyer also noted that there were cracks in the face of the tail lights, compared these cracks to the pictures provided by the seller prior to shipment, and discovered that the items had actually been cracked prior to shipment through comparison. License plate holder was cracked with a piece missing. Cracked area had the same dirt and age markings as the surrounding area, proving that this item had been cracked and broken long before shipment. Also, the bulbs and associated wiring which were promised by the seller was not included with the shipment. Seller was immediately notified of the issues and a full refund was requested by the buyer so that buyer could take the loss and return items to seller. Seller continues to delay at addressing the issue at hand and continues to deny the fact that items were damaged prior to shipment.
Upon subsequent follow-up messages from the buyer addressing specific responsibilities of the seller during the transaction (ie: properly packaging the tail lights so as to not be damaged during shipment, the seller following-up on an insurance claim, the fact that the license plate holder's cracked areas showed the same signs of aging as the non-cracked areas thus showing that it had been cracked long before shipment, and that the seller never sent bulbs and wiring as promised within the conversation about the tail lights) the seller offered absolutely no explainantion on these items and instead of addressing them directly with the buyer, the seller decided to dodge questions concerning the areas where the seller had acted irrisponsibly, as well as push the blame of the issue onto the buyer by accusing the buyer as being pushy for wanting to settle the matter in a proper and timely manner since others had been happy with the sellers performance in the past.
Ultimately this experience leaves me in a position where I would never buy / sell / trade, or even further participate within the board if this is the type of behavior that RX7Club.com is willing to promote.
Below are the pictures (which show the seller in the refelection of the pictures) of the items to be sold, as provided by the seller but since removed from his photobucket.com website:
