I've never bought on engine in person or online, so I was quite apprehensive about the entire transaction. The description Josh posted in his FS thread was accurate. He took the time to send me several videos of the compression test and the engine running (idling) before pulling it out of his s4.
Once we had agreed on a deposit, Josh went to work on getting the engine ready for shipping. Communication was excellent. Josh kept me posted with detailed emails about the progress, send pictures of engine removal and shipping, and palletized the engine securely.
He called me from the truck shipping depot and I confidently paypal'd the balance of the purchase price.
The 13B 6-port engine arrived intact and complete, matching all claims: all s5 components, apparently low mileage, great compression. After installation, it turned over nicely and started on the first attempt. Idles and runs perfectly.
Shortly after installation, I visited a trusted dyno facility. The engine produced excellent torque and power at midrange and high-RPM. I predict it will make a reliable race engine, spending most of its life above 6k rpm at WOT. It should last a full season, if not longer.
This has been my most satisfying transaction on rx7club to date.
