TX Back after a long time!

My name is Noel Aviles. I joined RX7club a long time ago. Way back in 1997, I was 17 and I owned an RX7. It was my 2nd RX7 overal. It was an 85 base model. Here it is, as I last had it.

I loved that car. I modded that car alot. It was my favorite car I have ever owned. In 2000 I sold it to help pay for my wedding to my awesome wife. After that I owned some AE86's, RA6X Celica's, a NA Miata, SW20, even an RX8. All those cars were cool, but none were as special to me as that 85 RX7. Last month my cousin posted some pics of his old cars on Facebook. It inspired me to find every pic I had of every car I have ever owned. I have owned quite a few cars. I only have pics of a some of my cars. So, I made an album on Facebook. I got a bunch of comments on that RX7. A couple of weeks ago, I was looking at all the comments and I just did a quick search of all the RX7's on Autotrader.com Then I found it. It was an ad for a 1985 Mazda RX7 GS. Blue like mine. Blue/gray interior like mine. Mint condition like mine. It had 91K miles. Get this:When I sold my RX7 in 2000, it had 90K miles. Now this RX7 wasn't my old RX7. I know from the person I sold it to, it was sold a couple more times and totaled. But here was this clean facsimile of my prized RX7. It was like it was meant to be. The car was located 5.5 hours away in the Fort Worth, TX area. I live in the Houston area. I contacted the seller on Monday and made plans to see it on Saturday(, March 13). He said he wouldn't hold it for me, but if it was available then he'd let me see it. I decided to head out Friday night. My wife and I got to our hotel in Fort Worth around 10:30pm Friday night. We met the seller at 8am Saturday morning. When I saw that car I was in love.

It was mint. I drove a couple of miles. It drove like a dream. Man I miss that car. No haggling and some signatures later, I had my dream car. This baby is mine.

I will never let her go again!!

Now I have had the car a little while, I have doene a couple of things to it. I recharged the A/C, it works awesome! I also added a Team Vodoo shift ****.

I'm dying to get started on the mods, but money is tight. I plan on redoing the suspension, all new steering components, some wheels, tint the windows, a upgraded sound system, full exhaust, sterling carb, a GSL rear end, and much more. Feels so good to be back in my first love.

Hands down, this is the best "intro" post ever written on this website! RX-7 Club got hacked a couple of times which is why your initial join date doesn't match when you actually joined back-in-the-day.

Welcome back, Noel...the text and pics drew me in, made me smile, then made me laugh with the car hug pic. You are a car guy that gets it and the rotary world is richer for it!

And as I always say, the more 1stgen folk who join, the better!!
