FD Bose stereo, replace deck?

I was wondering if I replace the cd player if the stock bose system (that mess of plastic tubes in the rear) will still work? My stock cd player works intermittently and I feel that the system is surprisingly good and plenty good enough for me, so my interest is spending less money on the stereo when other stuff is needed.

Any decks that look close to stock? I'm thinking of Nakamichi, Sony CDX-C90, and certain alpines that glow amber.
