pics - 1/2 a$$ antenna repair - will this work?
Will just replacing the antenna mast work like this guy claims?
Anyone every try repairing the power antenna like this?
The new "black" antenna mask I put on the TII looks SWEET - but $90 - ouch!!!
A $25 repair on the convertible would be great instead of buying a whole new antenna

It depends what is wrong with your antenna.If it is just a broken cord it will work.In some cases though the relay on the antenna fails in which case you must replace it.Every once in a while I visit wrecking yards and pick up power antennae--in about 50% of cases the relay is failed--but it is cheaper than buying new ones,By the way you can buy a new antenna mast at Mazda for about $35 Can(or $23.50 US)

now this, i know alot about...
Replacing the mast is MUCH easier than replaceign the antenna mech.
Just make sure that there is no remaining antenna gear rod left in the motor.
you should remove the motor, then remove the one screw holding the cap on the spool and check to make sure its all clear in there.
then re install the mech minus the top screw ring and sleeve.
Place the sleeve over the new mast.
Turn on the radio.
the antenna motor will go "up"
Push the new mast into the motor as far as you can, wiggling it to make sure.
then have someone turn OFF the radio and feed the antenna into the motor. CAREFULLY.
it will go down flush.
screw on the ring. tighten everything and turn the radiop back on.
see- all fixed!
