That's about it for now. I will hopefully get time to finish sanding down the primer and getting the sealer sprayed in the next two or three weeks.

I'll be back ya'll!

Nice progress on the build, looking forward to seeing it in paint

Regarding molding the fender vents...How will it hold up to temp changes? I'm tempted to do the same as mines going in for a respray in a few months, but I'm kinda scared it might crack due to the different expansion rates of the materials.

I haven't used anything out of the ordinary to mold in the vents on the fenders. Rage extreme body fill and some 3m lacquer filler. These are commonly used products for body work on fenders, hoods, doors, you name it. They will hold up to normal car use just fine. Obviously there is a seam to hide and it is not just a dent that I am filing so there is always a risk of it cracking over time. I mounted the vents with the OEM hardware as well as using 2 part epo-grip epoxy which I have been using at work for nearly twenty years. I would be amazed if there is any movement in the vent that would lead to cracking of the fill work and paint.
I should be be good to go...

Hey there Dan!
It's been interesting seeing who is still around and who isn't. Glad to see you on this side of the register.

I had that bumper on my first RX-7 back in the late 90s. Still looks great in my opinion.

It helps to have his cell number.
I don't have much time as I used to to hang out but we all used to pal around. I even took him to DC once and tried to hook him up on a blind date with one of my wife's girlfriends.
He's a good guy.

If you saw a dismantled 20b collecting dust that was mine. He seemed like a nice guy when I was up there. His personality was very different from Peter, whom I had worked with in the past... I'm not thrilled with the wait times, but understand...

I actually haven't been up to Rays shop in a few years. I picked the bumper up from the manufacturer in Cumberland. I knew Peter as well, I'd personally rather deal with Ray but we've been friendly for a long time now. I can sympathize with Ray being a busy business owner myself. It's a lot of effort to keep the work flowing out quickly.

Thanks fellas.

I am hoping to get some time on Sunday to work on it. It's just about ready for base coat. I've got the bumper fitted and all of the seams and gaps worked out.

Having a successful business is a blessing and a curse. I rarely have free time to do the things I want to do.
