Drove my car for the first time in about a week this morning, right after installing a catback exhast(i do have an aftermarket ECU)... Well got to work everything was running great.. Left from work to get some food, got on it a little bit everything felt fine, i got up to the stop light and it started to die, ran like ****, rough idle. There is absolutely no smoke or anything comin out the back of the exhaust, im getting some new spark plugs to see if that is the problem. It almost feels like it is runnin on one rotor..
That doesn't sound too good. Check the MAP sensor hose before you do anything else.
I blew my motor Friday night. I floored it in 3rd gear about about 35 mph, and I lost power all of a sudden. I was able to tell immediately, though, b/c the car had just enough power to barely accelerate. But it ran really rough, and wouldn't idle.
I assume you mean 12 in of Hg. That's a little low, but is it lower than what you normally get? I was getting like 2 in Hg after my little stunt Friday night.
maxcooper is right. traditionally, the guage will be fluctuating when the motor has popped. definately do what paw140 said, and also check the throttle sensor connection. mine came loose once and it acted like a bad seal.....otherwise, do not drive it anymore, there can be debitremental damage done to the motor components and the turbos. i speak from experiecne.
paul, sorry to hear about your motor too. who are you looking to do the motor...or are you going to get a reman and just drop it in...or sell it?
thats strange. when my motor blew I was pulling a constant 5 in vac. I checked the compression and it seems it was the front rotor that blew. I guess I killed more than 1 apex seal on it. mine went at 6500 in 4th. jsut all of a sudden boom.
I'm in the process of pulling the motor... I'll probably end up getting a Mazda reman. I'm not really sure yet; I want to see the condition of the motor after I tear it down. I'm definitely not selling it, though.
mine was pullin between 10 and 12 in. of vacuum when i blew mine. i blew a seal on the rear rotor. sorry to hear about it man, just doesn't seem like a good time for rotaries right now!
