turbo stud bolt removal for downpipe

I am looking at getting a down pipe, but I would like to know how hard it is to remove the studs that go into the turbo and hold the exhaust on. Is there a write up some where that could help me do this job? Thanks.

studs

Have you tried to remove the precat yet? Some come off easy and you don't need to worry about the studs if you put on a downpipe like the M2.

No I havn't started the project yet. The downpipe I am looking at getting comes with new studs so am guessing that you have to replace them. I would go for a downpipe like m2's but I am looking at getting this one for a good price. Is replacing the studs about fit or is it because the old ones get weeker with time? Thanks

studs

Some it is just about fit. Some require the precat to be removed and then you pull the studs, line up the new downpipe and insert the studs, then bolt it up. To pull the studs it just depends on the condition they are in. Some can be turned out by putting a couple of nuts on and backing the inside one up against the other or a person can use vise grips to turn it out.

My biggest fear is that one of the studs will break and I will have to pull my trubos to have the studs removed.

that would be bad

That sounds like the kind of luck I would have. About all you can do is try.
