Repair Cost Question

I'm looking at buying an FD that has no a/c and needs bushings. I'm just trying to get an idea how much it might cost me to have the a/c installed and bushings replaced.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Depends whats missing off the a/c system. Some of the lines are difficult to access with the motor installed. The dash may have to come out to reinstall the evaporator and other components. Bushings are typically an all day job and no fun if you are not set up with a press and the right fittings to press the bushings in and out.

he said he has the condenser and hoses, so that leaves the dryer and the compressor right? Sounded to me like it's completely out of the car right now.

bushings will run you 300 and prolly another 300 to install. if youhave the a/c stuff and just need it installed probably 150. all in all your gonna spend close to 800 bucks or more.

"Bushings" sounds dangerously vague.

Many FDs need new pillowball joints. The 6 in the rear suspension cost $400 for the set and take the average DIYer a few hours. There are bushings also, and they average $50/ea and at least 30min/ea labor.

And just in case it's ball joints not bushings, those come as new control arms at $400/ea.

So without a lot of detail, I wouldn't assume 'bushings' is a minor issue.

Here's the link to the listing on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Built...QQcmdZViewItem

And one of the emails I got from him:
1. needs bushings
2. suspension is brand new. but does not have the bushings you asked about.
3. racing clutch, new tranny with the new motor
4. no grinding into 5th
5. nothting is wrong with the interior except for the drivers door the panel is a little loose. also stock bose system was never hooked up. but i have it.
6. no i have never run a car fax but i have the clean title in hand. you are welcome to run one.
7. no a/c (i have half the parts to put it together)

Is there anyone in Miami that might be willing to check it out or does anyone know the car?

Sounds like the AC was pretty much gutted. Absent specifics, the "bushings" issue should be regarded as worst case senario.
Personally, all else being equal, the car would be worth $2k to $2.5k less to me without those things taken care of correctly.
