Hello All
Hey,
Are you guys friendly to Newbies? lol.
Well i have just joined the rotor community with a blue twinturbo 2001 series 8 wich i traded my 300zx tt in for, and i love it to bits =) so many curves.
Im a little dissapointed on performance as i beleive my 300zx was quicker.. so i am now looking into buying a boost controller to turn up the psi a little, SO 1st question is what does this model run standard and what is considered a 'safe' level to turn the psi up to?
So far the mods on this car are rampod air filter cold air intake and 2 n a half sports exhaust with high flow cat.
What are the 1st mods i should perform to get her to get her humming a bit harder ( bang for buck )
Finally I am from Australia and am intersted in swapping my race seat for a standard reclinable item but need to find a forum that caters for rx7 owners in australia but have had no luck finding one does anyone know of a forum in australia for rx7?
Thanks for reading hope my newbyness doesnt annoy you all
Any answers will be much much appreciated
Regards
Jesse

Please make an effort to begin any question with the FAQ:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/ and at least attempt to search for the answer. Read the FAQ all the way through - people know what's in there, and if you ask about things covered in the FAQ, you will probably get some flaming.

If you don't fee l like the car is as stong as it should be, you should verify your boost pattern. Loss of boost is not an uncommon problem, and many new owners don't realize it for a long time. Check out the boost test in the FAQ.
It's good you're asking about boost levels instead of experimenting. Just a couple more PSI will push you over the fuel injector capacity and tuning of the stock ECU, and blow your motor. Or best case, leaving you bumping fuel cut.
Adding 'flow mods' (intake, cat-back, high-flow cat or catless midpipe, intercooler, porting) will increase hp without raising boost, and generally don't need fuel and ECU upgrades to support it. You should probably add a boost controller to keep boost down at 11psi, which of course will be used to turn up boost later. You have much of this stuff done.
IMHO, wait about a year of driving car, doing maintenance, and sorting out any possible problems. Then start with the mods, fuel upgrades, and ECU upgrade / tuning.

Constant threat
Welcome aboard! Always good to see more of our Australian friends show up, the ones that are already on here are always cool.
Dave answered a lot of your questions as only he can. He is a very knowledgeable member, trust what he says. And not to just chime in and be a parrot, but with you coming from a 300ZX twin turbo to the FD, you SHOULD at least FEEL slightly faster in the FD, not the other way around. Make no mistake, the cars were pretty evenly matched in their hey-day, at least the early U.S. models were. See the chart at the end of this post.
Once again, it is good to have you here, if there is one bit of advice I can give it is to understand, REALLY understand the potential failure points of the FD or any high-performance rotary engine compared to a piston engine. And this forum is a wealth of information.
