i get alot of the stoplight talkers, and the "what kinda car is that?" or "is that a Vette?"

my favorite is "its too loud and smells bad" all FD owners have to get that one.

i get a lot of motorcycle guys pass up and rev + give the thumbs up

every now and then i have someone in a car stick out their cell phone to take a picture

most surprising encounter for me was i came out of a resturant and this middle aged guy with a fully stock mazdaspeed RX-8 parked behind my car and was checking it out. then he asked... "is this a limited edition mazda?" ......... i have all efini badges and rx7 emblem. then he goes on about how he kicks *** at the track with his automatic RX-8...

Haha, I've definitely had to explain my way through that conversation more than once.

One weekend, when I was home from school for Christmas break, I met two female friends for dinner. They saw my car and the conversation went as follows:

Them: What kind of car is that?
Me: An Rx-7
Them: Who makes it?
Me: Mazda
Them: (unenthusiastically) Oh, cool .....*pause*...... are you ready to go eat?

The next weekend, we met at a friend's house to go to a comedy club and one of the girls (whom I was trying to get with) went nuts when she saw one of her other guy friends had bought an 01 Audi TT.
Oh well, he doesn't have the fun of replacing 15 yr old parts.

Cliff's Notes: My car's a sausage fest, but has gotten some female attention... from 50+ yr old women.

I get a lot of people asking what year my car is, it's a 92 but then they say isn't that a second gen? NO mine is a 3rd gen FD FFS! Why does everyone think 3rd gens start at 93+???

The only time I had someone compliment me for owning an FD was when it was on a flatbed being transported to it's new storage unit... the only compliments I've recieved while driving it were all directed at how nice my corvette was, I did get one porsche comliment, and some guy who said it was a sweet mazda.... me- "it's an rx7"... guy- "no it's not an rx7, mazda doesn't make anything called that"... me- "oh, ok"...

One of my friends saw my Fd for the first time yesterday (he had been away studying), he gave me the the dreaded "how many cylinder question" and "what size engine" questions lol
i told him my car was a 0 cylinder 1300cc..and it hauled ***.
I took him for a ride in it, it was wet so had to take it easy although i had no troubles impressing him with what the little FD could do

I replaced the intake on the FD today and took it out for a test drive to make sure nothing fell off, got tangled in a belt, or any other potentially stupid things that can happen when I grab a wrench. I only drove a total of 5 miles, and had three different cars of young kids (16-22) either give me the thumbs up, or wave and and nod. That doesn't count the idiot in an 350Z that wanted to race (yeah right, in a 30mph zone with lots of traffic).

I have owned many sports cars and the fd gets more attention than anything I have ever owned including the 2 corvettes I had. I had a guy in a honda follow me around the other day, snapping pics with his cell phone. Old people always love my car. I think that is the ultimate compliment. Old people have seen it all. I wouldn't trade this car for anything out there. I had a guy in an AcuraNSX give a big wave yesterday.

Wow, usually Nsx owners think their cars are made of gold.

Haha, i noticed that too, it seems the older NSX's though tend to be friendlier, but the 2002+ models arent as friendly, maybe they are pissed they paid $90,000 for 295hp? I would still trade my fd in a heartbeat for one, or an mkiv - and i know you agree with the mkiv.

I have a lot of haters where I live. Lots of guys tell me that the RX-7 is a girls car... And I'm just baffled at the stupidity in that comment.

The older crowd however loves the car and gives me a lot of compliments. I take the older crowds opinion more seriously than the high schoolers because the older crowd are actually car enthusiasts whereas the young ones just wanna put a big wing on it and do some mad tyte dorifto ****. (until the next fast and furious movie comes out possibly involving like... i dunno, dirt tracking some nissan skylines and then suddenly everyone wants to take their tuners dirt tracking... )

I get a lot of girls that like the car too but it's not like anything happens...

I like to tell people that the FD is Mazda's secret experiment with fusion power.

I had one this weekend...

Passenger in Eclipse: Dude, what year is it?
me: 93
Eclipse: How many horse?
me: 400 (350 but it doesn't really matter what you say lol)
Eclipse: cool dude
*short pause*
Eclipse: Hey bro, I love you man
me: awesome
*Eclipse speeds away at WOT expecting me to follow*

Normally I would just do one pull and be done with it but it was long weekend and I was in a popular getaway and get drunk area so it had plenty of police and just decided to stay my speed.

wheres this popular getaway and get drunk area in toronto?
<< gotta make sure i stay away from there

oh and dont no if this is considered as a compliment but when i stop at lights, and random ppl in their ( civics, beat up imprezas, integras, you name it) would check out my car then look at me and nod their head, so i tend to nod back at them without even lookin at their car, unless it was a MKIV or somethin, then i probably woulda checked out their car first :P

oh rite, one day i was comin home from work, this 07 shelby gt500 pulled up to me and said nice car, so i replied you too, then he replies: yea, mines got 600 HP, ( even tho the gt500 only has 540 and thats BHP)
so i replied: wow thats fast! ( tho i was gigglin in my head), he then looks foward at the straight non traffic road and gased it, his wheels were skiddin for about 2 seconds and i instantly thought in my head ( oh hell no, this guy who doesnt no **** about cars, let alone his car did not just taunt me) so i instantly gased it too, when he caught traction, my turbos already spooled up ( luckily i was in 2nd gear crusin at 50 KMPH)
he pulled away from me about 10 meters ahead (freakin SC v8s wat u expect) and about 2 seconds later, i zoomed by and left a smile, and a big cloud of smoke from my mulffer when i shifted and made a loud poping noise

a good one this weekend...

Just put the coilovers on the FD, male friend of mine takes it for a test drive, drove into a grocery store parking lot, we get out, the attendent says, "thats a nice car man" to my friend, friend says, "...its not mine, it's hers."

Guy was a little speechless. =D

I have gotten the "How does the engine work?" question a bunch already. Usually it begins with "Well, there are 2 triangle shaped things that spin, instead of pistons...." You have to understand the type of people usually have to try and explain it to. Other than that it's usually "OMFG AN FD WOWZ AWESOME CAR MAN!!! LA LA LA"
