The '99 spec rebar does a MUCH better job of supporting the bumper skin and preventing sagging. Sure, you can cut or remove the original rebar, but you may be dealing with a sagging bumper in a year or two.
BTW, I just modified the original rebar and planned on spraying some foam under the bumper skin to prevent sagging. I never got around to the foam though... the car broke and I've been way too busy to work on it.

did mine exactly like that, and experianced no sagging.... most here will just hack off the ends on both sides and call it a day. I wanted to keep as much rebar on there as I could so I cut and trimed as I went, and it turned out to look just like pictured above...save your money on the 99rebar ... money better spent else where...

The 99 rebar is glossy white and made of stiffer plastic, but if the one you already have works, then go with it. I went with the 99 rebar just because I didn't have one from on my PFS bumper before and did not feel like paying shipping to ship a huge part that I would just have to turn around and hack up.
If 250 is no big deal to you then just get the 99 shipped with your bumper, otherwise, break out the dremel and go to town. GL

Just use your stock rebar, ive had my 99 front for years and have not noticed any ill effects. It took me 10 minutes with my dremel to get it cut correctly.
