Sway bar technical question
So I just got my full set of RB sway bars and before I did any of the install I did a
bunch of searching cause I was missing my brackets for the rear end links. While
searching I found that it was noted that everything 83 and back should have the rear
bar pulled but the 84 and 85 models were fine because Mazda lowered the mounting
point on the bracket for those years by about 1cm.
Can anyone verify how this was done on the 84 and 85 models? I'm asking because
looking at the new brackets I got from Mazda, and having them look up to see that its
the same part number for all the years, I can't see why it wouldn't work for every year
83 and back to just flip the bracket over to achieve the same 1cm lowering point.
Any thoughts?

The 'lowered suspension points' you're referring to have to do with the lower control arms - trailing arms off of the unibody - NOT the stabilizer bar mounts. In fact, you can mount a stabilizer bar on any of the model years because the bar mounts are standard across all. If it's made to fit an SA/FB, it should fit.
Mazda moved the lower control trailing arm mounts down by about a centimeter on 84/85 model year cars in order to counteract what's called snap-oversteer - or the tendency for the car to break sharply at the limit of adhesion. Lowering the mounts at the body side doesn't affect stabilizer bar mounting. This is evident when you look under an 84/85 model car, as there are additions to the subframe which protrude downward noticably compared to earlier cars.
I still run a Racing Beat adjustable rear bar on my -SE and feel that it adds flatter cornering and a more stable feel. Their matching front bar is also a good addition, as it keeps the rear of the car flat when cornering hard - and yes, the bars are used to affect handling at the opposite end of the car, not just where it's mounted.
Hope that helps, and good luck.
