:wallbash: Injectors not receiving power from ECU?

I'm not getting power from the ECU to the injectors.

to be more specific, i'm not receiving a ground(-) signal from 4W & 4Y.
I know there is a pos(+) signal to the injectors but not the pulsed(-).

I've got two wolf3d v4 and the results are the same, injectors do not fire due to lack of power.

does anyone have any ideas? i've got my ground-points covered (i believe);
from the engine harness, there are two grounds which are grounded... from the battery harness, the main ground is to the block.. the car gauges work, it'll turn over fine but no fuel / injector power.

i'm looking for any ideas here :confused:

sounds like there's a wiring issue somewhere. I know it doesn't help you here, but this is why I'm a fan of the flying lead harnesses =]

you're using the base map that came with the pnp wolf, correct?

You ran a fused 12v to the injectors right?

not sure what 4W or 4Y is, i might just be lost here

I'm almost unclear on the wiring issue, unless there is a relay in the middle that isn't functioning any longer... ::idea::
the ecu is already tuned to the engine & mods. :icon_tup:

the 12v+ is ran to the injectors as part of the OEM harness;

Look at my site for info on the pin-outs :)

test at the wolf connector and see if its throwing gound pulses, if it is, you have a wiring issue

hwnd 08-10-07 08:08 PM

I did test the two ground/pulse outputs (pins: 4W & 4Y);
there is a "on switch" pos(+) running to the ecu which served as my positive wire source.
-no readings from that test on the ecu side;

my tests were:
volt meter at injector harness-end : nothing, no readings
volt meter at ecu side : nothing
------------------------------------------------------------------------
changed ecu's (2nd wolfv4) - same tests with same results
------------------------------------------------------------------------

swapped in stock ecu and did this test:
volt meter at injector clip negative / pulse wire : voltage jumped up to 1v / 2v nothing more.

i'm running out of options here, i've got 'el tons o' spark;

Michael Smith 08-10-07 09:08 PM

place you Voltmeter red on the +12v and the black lead onto the lead from the wolf with the injectors off. Crank the engine if it pulses the Wolf is working and you need to look at the Injector +12v ...some engines will at cranking if faulty disconnect the +12 V so when you stop cranking it fires because you are no longer cranking.

Cheers

i did crank the engine with the voltmeter connected to the front-primary LG/B-PIN:4W and a positive lead (running to the wolf) - no pulse at all;

when getting the pulse... how much voltage should i be looking for?

should be a 12v puls if youre connected to a 12v line. do you have the hand controller or a pc hooked up? Is the wolf seeing RPM?

hwnd 08-11-07 01:25 AM

no rpm signal at the moment - though today i did have it;

i've got the coils out of the car and the uim off; what i'm doing atm is figuring out which plugs i will not be using from the OE harness and the battery harness;

nyt 08-11-07 01:57 AM

if the ignition isnt firing its not gonna give fuel =]

make sure you got an rpm signal and everything wired up

teknics 08-11-07 11:11 AM

oops didn't realize you were using a stock harness, I'm used to the universal

i'm not sure what i did but it starts now - i ended up swapping between two ecu's noticing one of them didn't register the rpm's; the backup wolfv4 does - took a min to start the car but all it well - so far...

Michael Smith 08-11-07 06:03 PM

the dreaded first time start for a Wolf ECU I bet. The first time you try to start your new ECU you really need to crank it fast. I don't know why but every new wolf I ever had was the same even on a old engine you need to put 2 batteries on it.

yeah it needs a fresh battery - runs like shit ;]

hwnd 09-25-07 06:41 PM

...fucking EGI fuse was to blame.. i didn't have it plugged in;
what a stupid owner :)

CrackHeadMel 09-27-07 06:46 PM

hahah, so it works then?

hwnd 09-28-07 12:11 PM

oh yeah - bought the 2nd unit for no reason :)
..backup unit now i guess...

i only posted my stupidity so we all can laugh at me!
..i found/fixed/slapped my problem (me) months ago & never posted the fix.
