Is this map ok

I would like to know if this map is ok to use. Does it have anything wrong with it? My set up is a Turbo 2 engine with stock primatiries and 680cc in secondaries, street port, hybrid turbo, walboro with automotive fpr. The map is for a wolf 3D ver 4.

Thanks

Ups forgot to attach the map......

CrackHeadMel 03-14-07 05:14 PM

where did you get that map? the ignition map is very very VERY conservative to the point that egt's would start to go nuts and you would have no power.. unless ofcourse you made it with your cas set somewhere other than zero

jcfrx7 03-14-07 08:10 PM

A friend set it up for me. I dont know anything about setting up maps. My plan was to get it running and then taking it to a Dyno and see if someone there knows how to tune it. I would like to lern but I can not find anything like MAPs for dummies or something to that nature.....jajajaj. Anyways the CAs is set up the stock way. I need help.

Thanks

if it runs i dont see any reason it woudl be unsafe to drive the car (localy) to a dyno for tunning, just baby it.

as for a tunning for dummies, you can search here but there isnt alot, however seaching EFI 101's site, and innovatemotorsports site will revel some methods but alot of its hands on thats hard to explaine

Have you seen a better map that I could use in this forum. I know is kind of hard to find someone that is willing to share. Thanks for the input .

anybody ....

Ok I had a look at you map the idle will need work it should be safe to drive if all the injectors work and the timing is zeroed search for ignition zeroing.

You may find a map at http://www.angelfire.com/droid/wolf3dems/ it is a collection of maps and stuff.

So you think the rest of the map is ok. What else should I change on it?

Thanks
Juan

I have a simlar engine with 1000cc secondies my map would be lean but you could use it as Start. If you are interested..

Michael if you don't mind I could probably use that map just to get a starting point. I would be very greatful.

Michael Smith 03-18-07 12:18 AM

OK when I get home I will drag the map out of my car now don't forget I have 1000cc secondary injectors you will need to add more fuel if your secondary injectors are smaller. It will get you running. Still looking for time to tune my car better. I am too busy with life and software..

yeah i just need a map to give my friend an idea on how to do the tuning. I mean he can tune really well when it comes to air-cooled vw's but he really has never messed with rotaries.

Also i need to try and keep up with his beetle. 277 whp in an 1800lb car.

signofinfinity 03-18-07 03:01 AM

air cooledd vw is not rotary.....totally different ball game. expensive tool to learn to tune..... be carefull my friend....

OK as promised fresh from my car. It runs ok but rich and the timing is not aggressive but it is very functional. I would suggest you run my Rotary Pulse Converter over the map to rough up a richer map. On my map the secondary skip is set too 1 you will need this for the converter. The converter can work out fueling for different injector sizes. It can be found at the bottom of my Freqgengui web site..

Now with Rotary engines ALWAYS TUNE FROM RICH to your target AFR which is always RICHER than a BOINGER of you want it to live long and strong.

Sorry for not replying faster. But is that I have been working on the car. Its running but Iam still trying to get it to idle just right. About your map I will try this today and see if it runs better. Now a question ... If I wanted to change the boost pressure to a lower pressure how do I do this. Quote me if Iam wrong Control/Boostpressure valve position table and if I wanted only 10 psi is it 111 for rpm values and then change the over boost to 10psi?

Thanks
Juan

I used the calculator and converted the map you provide. Is this ok?

And thats the reason i asked for a base map so we can look at it and see what is done diferently. I plan on running the afr pretty rich just to be on the safe side.

jcfrx7 03-18-07 05:11 PM

All right, its running and pretty good. I got it to idle and with no load I reved it from 1000 to 4000 rpm slowlly to see if there was any hesitations and nope it was pretty clean. I havent taken it out yet but I will plan it next week end. Thanks Michael you are the man.

Juan

jcfrx7 03-18-07 05:23 PM

Well I was really anncious to drive it so I drove it arownd the block just after sending the last post. Very nice and clean all the way trough 5000 rpm. I do not know how much the boost came up because I was not paying attenccion to the gage. But I did hear the BOV go off after shifting. As for the idle it did not stayed were I set it because wen I pulled back on the drive way it shut off. I started it again abd it woul'd hold Idel ans shut off. I believe that something changed .... I will look in to it next week end ..... I am diying to finish this long going proyect. My next step is paint and the dyno. Allmost done. Thanks again Michael

Pictures of the proyect.

I would check that your idle control, BAC on your manifold is stuck. Mine did the same just pull it off and clean it. I pulled mine off and RP7 or CRC it clean then lightly oil it with 2 stroke oil. Mine has been working great for 3 years. :) The map looks better but you need to check your AFR's Get a lend of a wideband and check the AFRS before doing too many miles. Mine Idles good but like all rotors you need to warm it up . Check for vaccum leaks too.

Can the stock BAC could be used with the wolf? I do not have a BAC connected to the engine yet.

Michael Smith 03-21-07 04:23 PM

My map does have idle speed control enabled you need to place a diode across the BAC( its in the manual) and wire it up and it will all work with the settings already programmed into the map no changes required.

Cheers
Michael Smith
P.S. Idle control is a free option :) with this package..

All right !!!!!! Finally the car Idles. Thanks again Michael. I worked on it last night and could not get it. So I tried today and went step by step on the manuals schimatics in wich I found a couple of this wrong. Now is time to take it to the Dyno for some tunning. I will drive the car to see if everything is still good and Ill keep it posted. I know I am problebly far from finishing this proyect but I know I can do it.

Lots of thanks
Juan
