Knock control for the wolf, will this work?!?!

check this out, someone from the boards made it for the haltech to do real knock control.
Any of you wolf experts know if this will work for the wolf also.

I'm going to run a v500 and would LOVE to have real knock control.

Hi Ben, If you use a series 4 knock sensor it puts out a series of pulses at 5 Volts. If you use a circuit like in a tacho which has a variable output voltage proportional to energy from the pulses you have 0Volts =no knock, 2.5 volts heaps of Knock, 5 Volts the engine has fallen out and is rolling under the car!! If you take this voltage and run it to a aux input and use the trim function under the ignition map you can change the timing verses voltage at your aux input hence > proportional programable knock control on both leading and trailing. :fawk: I have been meaning to do this as I made a circuit to detect knock using a LED that just says RETARD your timing for tuning. This meant that I could detect the slightest knock as the LED would blind you.. I could adapt this but have too many other things to do. My little tool works well for tuning as it is.

Simple anwser: proportional knock is possible with a wolf as long as the output from your device is a variable voltage from 0 to 5 Volts

not necesarily 0-5 volts. any output with a 0 to 1 volt is sufficient!

I am using the J&S unit .... the monitor line has a diode and splits into the aux input 1.

then as you can see in that thread i set a proportional linear rate. 0volts= 0retard. 1 volt=20 deg retard :D

will install it tomorrow

George you are right anything between 0 and 5 volts and 0 to 1 Volts works fine. The stock ignition retard drops 7 degrees out and it doesn't work below 2500 rpm from memory. It would be great to hear how it works George.

waiting for my turbo blanket from horsepowerin a box AU.... those guys sent it out last wednesday.... once installed i can get a trial!!! we'll see how it goes.

my strobes are ready to check leading and trailing together on retard!!!

ok.... ran for like 250km in breaking in mode (4psi & 5000rpm)

Harnessing of the J&S is set and also the avcr's. Now I just need to find (again) some time to install the ecu.....oh and monitors are installed. connection time soon! and testing!
