Heat Soak and Air inlet tempreature
 

Ok I am going to need the Flame suit here......Does the Mazda positioning of the Air Temp sensor suck or what!!!! As the tempreature is rising here (Summer)my car is becoming more of a pig to hot start well not really hot start , hot idle is more like it.
Has anyone made a small metal/high pressure plastic fitting to go between the Intercooler and throttle body to mount the Air Temp sensor??

Anybody????

Im having same problem, i am going to move my sensor in the greddy elbow or in the intercooler pipe just before the elbow.....

Maybe someone could make up a fitting that you can screw into silicone piping that has a large hollow bolt type affair with a 14mm threaded centre for the Air temp sensor.

if you can use an IAT sensor from a ford mustang (you can purchase the plug with it), I believe from a 4.6L V8 motor, it has a barb around the outside of it, allowing you to drill a small hole in a silicone piece, heat up the silicone, and press in the sensor. It doesn't leak and is good to at least 35psi. I'll see if I can figure out what sensor that is. It also comes with a handy-dandy calibration curve.

Hey thanks mateospeed what year model??? All we need to make it work is a calibration table. which it has. I was going to get some half Nuts and thin washers. I was going to seal it with polyurethene/sicaflex. Just punch a small hole in the bend and then a nut and washer both sides with sealer and Thread lock for the inside nut. . A bung in the old hole. Sounds like it would work. :)

hmmm, good idea w/ totally isolating from the aluminum itself, im ceramic coating my intake manifolds and turbine, turbo manifold and downpipe, but dont know about gasket transfer.

they do sell phenolic gaskets for the t2 intakes on ebay, still some heat coming off of the engine itself. Would a move to the top of the manifold under the top mount intercooler be better to protect, or would that heatsoak even more?

Maybe the furthest left spot away from motor and turbo/exhaust would be best, on th eside of the elbow into the intake right after the top mount intercooler would be best......heat shields anyone?
