Bought a car with a Wolf 3D, what's needed to upgrade the map sensor?
Bought a FD with a Wolf 3D, I was told it only had a 22 or so psi map sensor installed. He said it's actually built into the ECU, is this correct? If so, what's needed to upgrade it to say a 30 psi sensor? How to and price?

you can solder in a new 4bar or 5bar but i dont know what affects that'll have on the firmware. this was something i looked into and Wolf AUS being a jerks they are attempted to sell me a v5.. jerks :-) |

The internal cannot, you can run an external however of whatever range you want aslong as its 0-5v
|
Is there a certain way to wire that up? Would I need to bypass the internal sensor?
|
Pin 24 is the signal wire for external map sensor
As for switching it over in the software, i know you can i just dont remember right now. I am however sure though because i have a 4bar Motorola map sensor sitting next to my wolf3d v4 that at the time i bought it, i was sure i could use it. Wiring / install info for wolf3d v4 http://wolfems.com/files/Installatio...457%201004.pdf Pinout's are on page 62 You sure are not wasting anytime modifying the new FD.. :D -Jacob |
More:
http://wolfems.com/files/PC%20Software1016.pdf PC software manual It does mention in the setup where you choose load sensing type, you can choose internal or external map sensors On the hand held controller i belive you hold the top two buttons for 3 seconds and it brings up the setup menu, i may be wrong though, cars been apart for a few years. |

MAYBE we could start a firmware hack session again. I dont have a wolf 3d+ and I surely wouldn't buy another but I would be willing to help if a spare one comes along. |
Just run an external and scale the map however you want? Any 0-5v map sensor will work, far far far easier than modifying the internal
and as far as the internal, if its a 0-5v you could just swap it for whatever you want again aswell, only thing that would be wrong was the readout in the software or hand held controller. |

Wolf sucked at this and customer support. |

well uhm, you physically can swap it for a newer one but the firmware not knowing the new range would set ya back.

It seems when Joe User tries to get some help he cant, I hear this with almost every ECU out there.
I dont do my own tuning and have never attempted to get any support myself, but I do know that I have seen my tuner get on the phone and call someone in Australia on a few occasions, and he always got someone on the phone and got answers, Im assuming he is calling someone's personal cell phone. So I guess as usual its who you know. |
they helped out when i needed my ecu reflashed. they were slow about it, but you can still call them and they'll answer questions.
