Southern California: Rotary Reliability & Racing in Santa Ana (714) 641-2980, Tripoint Mazda Engineering in Canoga Park (818) 348-5385, R&R Rotary in Upland (909) 593-8080, Mazdatrix in Signal Hill (562) 426-4460.

^^^ All are great places to get your engine rebuilt.

Bob_The_Normal 07-24-05 11:12 PM

Doesn't sound like an engine rebuild problem... I don't know FDs though.. power/idle problems... that's diagnosis material, need to get someone with experience to take a look at it. Dunno if GuitarJunkie would want to do that, he seems more into rebuilding not general mechanic-ing. ;)

GUITARJUNKIE28 07-25-05 11:49 AM

i'm the one who suggested finding the problem out before rebuilding it.

and yes, i'm well versed in general mechanic stuff. i've even got the ase's a6, a8, l1, 2 smog certs, obd2 cert and a couple other papers to stick on the fridge. i used to be a real mechanic before i started playing with triangles :p:

lol, I guess that means I'm not a real mechanic since all I do i splay with the triangles. ;D ... I don't really like certifications though, same as computer certifications... getting one doesn't mean you know anything really useful lol... (and I'm guessing you agree, with the "pieces of paper to stick on the fridge" part heh)

I'm sure you know your shit more than me though and just got them to put a smile on your customer's faces, not to get work. =) And I figured you'd just be too busy with rebuilding engines to be working on little things like shifty idling FDs. ;) I fixed my shifty idle yesterday with a major TPS adjustment.... that was expected though, I was just being lazy and not getting around to it.

ANYWAY, if the guy wants to drive out here to get it checked out I guess that's cool... lots of shops down here can diagnose that kind of problem too.

GUITARJUNKIE28 07-25-05 03:02 PM

actually, the place i was working at at the time gave me a raise when i got the l1...since i was in school anyway...

that's one cert i think everyone should have... it's all about shit going wrong with computer systems and how to fix it. that's about the only thing i learned in school that i actually use every day of my life.

hail to the triangle!

I've already mentioned them. ;) Steve is a great person to have your engine rebuilt!

cooldude 07-25-05 07:12 PM

cool guys but

Mazdatrix had my FC TII and was asked to do service on injectors and tune the car plus trans clutch and rear main seal

witch they did all that
but they would not drive my car
yea sure it reved and idled but it would nor run past 3500 rpm at all while driving

john was my mechanic
he had the car 1 week
i called him and he would not come to the phone
on 3 seperate occasions

so i would hesitate to go back

rotary relieability said go to mazda trix they just sell parts

ive tried for a week to talk with tri point but there too busy to speak to me

i must have a big billboard in LA that says im a looser or something
pettit built all my cars and they know me and i them
but florida is a little far fom me now

im currently building 2 FC cars 1 na and 1 TII
and my FD is just not happy but is a good car

so i really need a good relationship with a builder
of cars not just motors

and ill go to florida if i have to
distance is not the issue quality and integrity are

thanks guys

I personally recommend Robert from Rotary Shack (www.rotaryshack.com) 'cause he's a friend... he takes a while to get shit done 'cause he's always busy playing with the bird or the squirrel but he know what he's doing. ;)

He's around the on the boards, mostly sticks to the FB stuff... doesn't like working on FDs much, FCs are fine though. He's good at putting a whole car together. Just remember he takes his time... and he does things the way you want.. if you wanna go cheap, results are gonna be working but cheap... he won't bullshit around about what you get for the money like some places... he'll tell you how much it'll cost to be done the "right" way, and if you don't wanna pay it then you can go for the lesser options lol.

I'd offer my services... but I only know FCs and don't really deal with turbo (yet hehe) so I'd only be good for putting together a nice N/A 2nd gen.. mmmm.... 2nd gen....

GUITARJUNKIE28 07-26-05 04:53 PM

i would recommend myself, but i'm so busy lately, i probably couldn't touch it for a month or two. :p:
