damn, ive been wondering if there were RX7 meets near by. Just found this. Ive been getting screwed with at the local meets as NO ONE owns a 7. Ill try to make it. Only after i work on the paint a bit haha

Well my brother's FC has been leaking oil on the driver side. It is towards the front, maybe an inch or two back from the power steering pump. My dad and I couldn't figure it out so I swung by Lucky 7 today. They asked if I changed the oil recently in case I spilled it down the block, but nope. He checked the top of the engine and there wasn't oil on there, so the oil injectors weren't leaking. We cleaned the oil off, started it up, and saw that it was coming from between the front iron and the front housing at one of the oil seals for the dowel pin. Yep, my brother's 59,000 original mile car needs a rebuild. Tony said hes only seen it happen in a high powered car.

 

sounds like a lie to me, the rotary would never fail before the 200,000 mile mark.

Haha yeah. I'll have two of our families 4 cars in the shop for crazy reasons. My coolant seals failed after 40,000 miles and my brother's oil seal failed after 59,000 original miles. Seriously weak.

It sat a lot, yes, but it was driven every week. It was their around town car. The wife took it to get her nails done every week she said. Unfortunately its all city miles though. I'm not sure if I believe it, but the owners said it had only been on the freeway once in its life.

 

i drive my RX7 like i stole it. It has 209,887 miles on it now and still running strong, no engine leaks or compression loss....yet haha. Only thing that was done to the engine was a new fuel pressure regulator and thats it. when i rebuild it....i might throw a supercharger or something on it and register it in arizona.....(im in the military) and im stationed in cali...so i can get away with it hahahahah.....hahahahahahaha.

 

Anyone in for this Saturday? I'm visiting Aeka this weekend so he'll have his single turbo FD and I'll have my supercharged Lotus. Should be a fun drive, hopefully we can get a decent showing together.

I had a oil leak on the front housing like your brother when I was rolling around with one rotor, had to add a whole quart every time I got gas!

 

Ooooh that was bad. I heard you still made it to Sevenstock one year though!

Lucky 7 updated my dad and said it wasn't actually the oil seal around the dowel pin that went out, it was that the housings themselves were warped. Evidently the previous owners were running the car numerous times while it was overheating. I guess its true that its better to buy a rotary from some kid who races it but knows how to take care of it than an old couple that drives it gingerly but doesn't maintain it.

Datum, we'll be there in December. It will be my third anniversary going to this meet.

I was totally joking about the handcuffs. Matt and I were the only two people to show up so we just went to breakfast at this really great little place called Mr. T's diner or whatever in downtown Riverside. I vote we all go there from now on after the run!

While I was waiting for Matt, two cop cars had a couple people detained in the parking lot and one dude was resisting and tried to walk away. All the cop had to do was intimidate him by puffing up his shoulders and walking like a steroided out gym nut and the guy sat right down.

 

LOL thats pretty funny, Yea I wanted to be at this last meet but things ploted against me and I couldnt go but Im shooting to make Decembers meet tho. If Mr. T's is a good spot to eat Im down for that

Funny story I wish I was there.
So yesterday at work this random tow truck dropped off this car on out lot so another one could pick it up, I know makes since right. Anyway, there was a key but I hear no gas was in it or I would have a new race car as of now.
