SoCal Help with AC
So, from what I've been reading it's best to stick with the R12 refrigerant than to change the system to R134a. I called up John Stone Supply about getting some, but they only sell to licensed contractors and not the general public. Anyone have any ideas of where I can go to either get the R12 or have it refilled? Summer is coming...
Keep the R12...thats the best in the industry but not ozone friendly, outpaced during the mid-90's. I'm a former HVACR tech (commercial and residential but never worked on cars) and CFC certified so I can buy it anytime but it is not cheap.
The downside is it's $50/lb. I found a place called Lucas AC that seems pretty knowledgeable
i never said it will be "cheap"
Ya, I'm just going to have to figure out in the long run what is more economical

I always buy and run Freeze 12 on my cars with no problems and get each can for about $12,I get them in a small auto parts in Lincoln heights.

I'm in North Hollywood, I figured I'd call them before I drove out there. The guy on the phone checked and said they don't have any. Maybe he was lazy and didn't actually check.

Check out the thread i posted

I checked it out, but I'd love to hear from some other FD members who have used it.
The AC systems of FC's and FD's share many similarities, and both use R12.
I have personal experience using r152 in my cars (other than RX7's) for over 2 years now, it has been nothing but cool times. |
