Im at the end of my rope with this damn thing. It wont thread in the stupid stock position its in a s5 na. The thread is 1/8 27 ntp I know the only difference is 1 damn thread so it shouldnt be a problem at all seeing as so many people install in this location as well. What could be the problem. It threads so far but it just wiggles out. It wont thread in all the way it barely goes in at all. Please help. Thanks. Even if some one could come in person to help that would be awesome. Ill buy you some brews or gas or whatever.

Try to be more specific. Factory OEM sensor in stock location? Or aftermarket?

It can be done but i wont recommend tapping it but there are other options like a radiator hose adapter, thermostat cover, back of water pump housing or on the side front plate near the oil pan.

Thanks ill try the front iron. The spot is under all the power steering and ac junk right? I wouldnt tap it ever. I dont have the tools to tap it anyhow lol. In the top rad hose wouldnt the temp fluctuate since the thermostat is always opening and closing to keep consistant temp?

Yeah its there. Its threaded with metric but you can retap it with 3/8 and get a bushing/reducer that matches your sensor. The easiest wilk be the t-stat cover or hose adapter

I think the best place is right behind the water pump housing below thermostat.

When I installed my haltech I used the haltech "small sensor" and used and adapter from auto meter,I think it was, to install in factory location. The Adapter threads into the stock location then the new small sensor threads into the adapter.

The thread in the iron is 1/8" BSP. It's not only a different pitch but a different diameter as well. If you can get your sensor to thread in, it will destroy the threads on the sensor and possibly leak. You should use the proper adapter. http://www.lms-efi.com/sunshop/index...t_detail&p=174

Or,if this is for an EMS install, the best place is back of the water pump with the GM 12mm sensor. Direct replacement, no drilling and tapping. http://www.lms-efi.com/sunshop/index...t_detail&p=147

Wow you are a life saver thanks for the link to the adapter. Its for the aftermarket temp gauge. Im using a friends guage he got from ebay, and It fit without the adapter but I wanted my own so I can give him back his lol.
