Normy9 01-13-12 06:25 PM

Google "rotary response and racing in tuscon". I've heard good things about them.

RexRyder 01-23-12 01:16 PM

Hey I'm in Tucson and I can help you out. Pm me what you need

technomentor 01-28-12 09:42 PM

rx for your 7 and Rotary Response and Racing are both the same shop. Run by Jay Evenson who is a factory trained rotary mechanic who has been working on rotary engines since the mid 70's. He helped Racing Beat with their Bonneville Flats car, has raced multiple versions of rotary powered cars, prepped many a track car and just plain knows his stuff. You won't go wrong with Jay.

My first experience getting work on my 1973 RX-2 was with Jay. That was in 1982.

Im glad that this post happened. I live in Southern AZ too and thought my only real option was to go up north to Arizona Rotary Rockets to get a build going. Im in Afghanistan now but will be getting my 95 built when I get home.

alwaysjdm 01-31-12 08:42 PM

yea im in afghanistan right now to and im doing my 87. also ive been told sps does some real good tuning but im not sure if they do rotaries. when i find out ill post it up

Ok if you don't wanna get rapped in the a77 while your not looking go to my buddy Javi puerto Rican guy with many years of big builds.
He is in North phoenix but the guy is good and doesn't require a arm and leg to build motors.
Dude knows turbos and rotories, he's got a r100 with a build 13b re the car is crazy, slicks, 9" rear end wheelie bar is runs around 6 sec
Pm me for his number.

RexRyder 02-06-12 02:44 PM

I have called around AZ for dyno tuning....

I'd rather do it myself.

Or Steve Kan when he comes to Phoenix

Einheri 02-11-12 01:10 PM

I've tried to get in touch with Glen Weaver a couple of times, but his office number always comes back as busy.

88rota 02-13-12 12:30 PM

I don't believe Azrr is building motors for customers anymore, or that's the word that Im hearing around town.
I had my motor done by them, and he never warranty my motor once something when wrong.

Dude does great work but he's impossible to get a hold of. I woundnt suggests them.

Digi7ech 02-13-12 02:32 PM

AZRR is out of business.

I know two people doing rebuild in Phoenix right now.
88Rota might be talking about the same guy. I've known him as Caesar. He's built 3 of my friends motors and does it for a reasonable price.

The other guy was banned from here but does reasonable work. I don't know his prices.

As for tuning. Tony at UMS is great at it but the cost is a bit.

Ive been thinking of just paying the extra for get my car trailered and just sent up to Banzai Racing. Long trip but good quality build

zionfarm 03-07-12 07:42 PM

This is some nice info as I will be moving out to Tucson this july.

That's so weird I talked to AZRR not to long ago it seems like and they are gone.

Tried RX for Your 7 took days to hear back from them, did find a local AZ guy who seems to be knowledgeable we have been talking about options and he seems to be worth checking out.

He is on AZRX7 boards.

zionfarm 03-08-12 11:41 AM

Or you could check out my friend located in Hesperia CA .The shop is called Krazzy RPM racing. He does quality work and is very easy to work with.

Ill check it out but the main reason Im thinking Banzai is because they are one of the more well known rotary shops in the US and even though it may be a little more expensive then a local shop I know Ill get a good build from good people. Ive had issues with shops in the past that cost me lots for nothing so I want to avoid the unknown.

Are you stationed down in Fort Huachuca?

armytim2002 03-13-12 10:35 PM

No. I worked there as a civilian contractor but decided to take a deploying job for a year to help get me out of debt and save some money for toys and what not. Once Im done here though Im going to try and get my old job back since i left on good terms.

TangoHelo 03-15-12 06:19 PM

Hey there 88rota I'm in N Phx and ya AZRR is pretty much done from what I've heard. Where is your friend Javi located, does he have a shop? I don't need a rebuild but it sounds like he could be a great resource!
