Question about LA County Sheriff Ticket
I got a fix-it ticket from the Los Angeles County Sheriff for my lowered car and tinted window. "Uncorrectable" is check marked next to the lowered vehicle code, but "correctable" is checked for the tint. Plus, the officer didn't ask me to sign the citation. Any thoughts on what I should expect?

call the number on your ticket... and also, see if there's an assigned court date.

Thanks Damzil.
I was also wondering if the fact that the lowered vehicle code is checked off as uncorrectable, do I keep my current stance and pay a fine instead of raising it back up and getting it checked off at the sheriffs station? Lastly, does the fact that I was never asked to sign the ticket mean anything? |
well... I've heard of people fighting the ticket since there's no proof of your signature... but they probably got you on tape with the on board camera on the cop car. If it's a fix-it ticket you'll obviously need to fix it. But I know it's more strict in SoCal then up here. I heard if your car isn't street legal down there that they crush it in front of you and have you pay the fee to crush it.

How low is your car and how dark are your windows? Pictures are always a plus. |

Do you really want that headache for just a fix up ticket? |

The signature is not admission of guilt it is a promise to appear. So the first thing you'd be fighting is the warrant against your arrest if fail to show. If you come in and make a plea, you already showed up so what good did it do?
If you go into court, and show the judge that you did in fact corrected the lowering, he/she will most likely reduce the fine greatly. It's your best chance of paying less money. Like I said signing a ticket is a promise to appear in court to defend yourself. If you don't show up you will automatically be given a warrant for your arrest, so you have to come in to take care of that. Just becasue you didn't sign the ticket does not mean that the state does not have issues with you (ticket). Now in order to resolve that you will most likely you will be given an order to appear for the ticket. Do you really want that headache for just a fix up ticket? |
