Picked up my 3rd FC on thursday
So I picked up another FC on Thursday. I bought it off a kid who was selling it on CL and the car didn't start. He said the starter went out and that it was flooded. Cars specs
1991 N/a Coupe ( my first one), Single exhaust 2.5'' until the tip which is a stock tip. No name brand "cold Air" Air filter. And HID Headlights. All original interior. Even the Stock CD player works! One vent missing, all others are not broken and still intact. Dash is pretty clean. No cracks. Body is a 7 because of small paint chipping and ps fender is really faded compared to the rest of the car. And even the A/C works! (Score!)
So I bought the new starter for it ( worst thing that could happen was that I could use it for my Vert FC that actually will need a starter soon anyways) and my buddy put it on for me. I took out all the spark plugs and dam that car was flooded bad. I deflooded the engine as best I could. Clean the spark plugs and tried to turn the car on. Nothing. It almost cranked a few times but just wouldn't catch.
I talked to the kid that I bought it from telling him that the engine was blown. I asked him all sorts of questions such as driving, fuel, etc etc. He answered me that he was premixing and didn't know what type of oil he was using, and how much he was using when premixing. Apparently his buddy was the one giving him oil and telling him to premix. And that he never took it over 7k RPMs. So I just was like omg! /why.......
So I had the car towed over to Garage Life in S. El Monte.Sadly, the compression test came back with 30psi in the front, and less than 20 in the rear. Going to have them rebuild it vs Lucky 7.
So my question, How hard is it to pull the motor and place it back in? I've never done it before and I want to see exactly what I am getting into by doing that. I want to save a little bit of cash as apposed to having Garage life pull and drop the motor.I would save about 600bucks if I went that route. And btw I got the car for 1300$. Clean title.

Dam, that sucks about not even having time to work on your own ride. And I've decided to go with a stock 13b n/a rebuild. Since the car is not going to be tracked I'd rather just keep it original as possible.

if the body and interior are clean, keep it stock. nowadays, a completely stock unmolested will be worth more than anything else, a couple of bucks more. lets face it, a RX-7 belongs to a junkyard so no matter how much you invested in it, it is still a piece of junk. LMAOOOOO
Im not sure about Garage Life, but I can tell you that Lucky 7 is a great shop to get your motor rebuilt. Fris and Tony are extremely fiendly and helpful, Im in the Navy and I dropped off an old and used REW motor. Over the six months I was gone over in Spain they had built me a badass BP'd motor that was ready for pickup the day after I came back. I would highly recommend them if you decide to go in that direction. Anyways good luck with the car!
But Sirankio, mine is like a diamond in the rough. It will be worth millions one day! Lol. Junk yard can't take my babies away! lol. Yeah I thought about it all night and I have decided to keep it OEM.
FD3CB, I like lucky7 too. But I know the owner of Garage life and everyone there. Last time I went into Lucky7 it was to have my MOP swapped out. I was in limp-mode. They swapped it but when I got home I noticed that I was leaking oil pretty bad. I couldn't drive the car back up to them because I am in Santa Monica. They didn't put 2-washers for the bolts that hold up the MOP so I had to have another shop around my area take a look at it and fix it for me. I like the work they do over-all at lucky7, but I'd rather help out another Rotary shop get up and running.

O.O! A factory one? I actually might. Never had a FC with a factory Exhaust
Let me think about it.
Uploading pictures of the new baby. She will be going into the shop in about a week and a half.
The black Vert is also mine.

Gold car behind mine belongs to DKwashere ( Owner of Gargelife)

Car is done and have been driving it around for a few days. I ended going with FD housings, action clutch stage 1, and a street port. Car feels nice and strong but I am slowly kicking up the rpms. For right now I'm babying it and not passing 3k rpms until I reach 500 miles. From there ill go up to 4k.
The car does feel much more different from my vert set up. my vert feels like it pulls a little harder ( but that could be just in my mind).
