Paint Shop Recommendations NorCal

Hey guys,

I'm new to the Bay Area from Australia and am restoring a 71 RX2 Coupe. I am looking for recommendations for a paint shop that isn't going to bend me over! I am going to disassemble the car but want to leave the paint to the pro's. Any recommendations? I don't mind towing the car a few hours for good quality paint shop or painter that loves Rotaries as much as we do.

Am looking to do a color change + engine bay. The car has a few dings but no rust. This is the car -

Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Welcome to the Bay Area! Be prepared to pay higher prices for the services that you get in our bubble :)

For paint service, you get what you pay for and you can get a cheap paint job that will last 3-5 years, or you can pay up for a quality job which will last you 15+ years if taken care of.

The Works Auto Body in Santa Clara handles many Rx-7 and High end Vehicles. They are $$$, but like I said you get what you pay for. I had insurance work processed with them for my Rx-7, paint matching and blending is top and still holds after 10+ years.

B2 Perfection in Sunnyvale is highly reviewed, but I don't have any experience taking parts to them.

Again be prepared to pay $$$ for a quality job. If the parts are straight and don't need repairs you can save some $.

Good luck on your search, personally your car looks clean enough to keep as is, and White/Cream is a great color to maintain. if you get a new paint job its a double edged sword especially for darker color paint jobs, at least for me, when you spend some $$$, every bird crap, every leaf, every cat paw, every car you park next to is your enemy :0.

Thanks bravebluerx! The car is in excellent condition but it's a 45 year old paint job with a few dings and I want to do the body work and paint so that she lasts another 45 years without rotting out!

If none of his suggestions work out, shoot me a PM. I know a shop in Santa Cruz (about 35 min away from santa clara) that does great work and will treat you right.

I've had good experiences with Angkor Collision in San Jose. I would recommend bringing your car there for a quote.

Check out East Bay Auto Paint in Hayward. The owner is a friend and the work I've seen from his shop has been excellent. Plus he loves rotaries! lol
