outragous junk yard prices

i called to see how much a tranny would go for and they told me all they had were n/a trannys and they were selling them for $500+tax

does that seem right at all?

and to make it worse thats the only j/y out here that has a 7 in it

kungfuroy 08-02-06 03:20 PM

what junk yard are you going to?

i can pick up transmissions for less than 100

Siraniko 08-02-06 03:25 PM

he probably went to a regular wrecking yard; not a junkyard where you can have it your way as they would say at Burger King.

Pappasmurf 08-02-06 04:31 PM

fast... i know there are a couple of 7's in the 2 pick your parts in sunvalley. they aren't that expensive!

REnthusiaSTS 08-02-06 04:31 PM

Damn, those trannies must be rebuilt or somethin'...I'm so glad our local u-pick-u-pull is someone's backyard...
I won't mention any names-damn vultures, sneaky lil' bastards.

kungfuroy 08-02-06 05:54 PM

lol, Rancho cordova as in, Sacramento? I can get a NA tranny from them for under 100.

The cool thing about recyclers is you ask them "how much for an rx7 tranny" they say "500 dollars" you reply "how about 100? you didnt even pay 200 dollars for the car your pulling it off of"

when they give you a price its not like dealer...you dont have pay exactly how much they ask. Shit, if you pay cash, you usualy dont even have to pay tax. you need to talk them down. if you come in there looking like some preppy old guy, they're gunna rape you. come in know EXACTLY what your looking for and talking about and you tell them how much your going to pay.

sometimes they dont wanna budge, so you play them off each other, tell them the last time you were there they quoated you some other amount. almost always they'll put up a little defense and then finaly give up and let you walk away with what you want.

Hell, i just go into Wacky's garage when he's at work and find everything i need. The problem is that it usually takes 2 days to find it in there.:rlaugh:

I've never seen a car stay in a pic a part yard more than 2 weeks. BUT, I'll check it out.

Thanks.

And, if anyone else has Vert Pic a Part intel, please share.

fast86rx-7 08-03-06 07:40 PM

jhammons01 08-04-06 12:56 AM

HOZZ there is a White 91 vert at M&M off the I-10 and Cherry. Tell me what you're after and I'll tell you if they have it left on that car......the trouble is that that guy is steep in pricing. He's tied in with insurance so He charges bank
