my car wont start need help!!!!

hey everyone i need a little help with my car.. i have a auto s5 that wont start on me. the story is one day i was driving around and the next day i woke up the car wont start no more the battery is still good the gas is a quarter tank.. anyone can help and tell me whats wrong i will appreciate it alot thanks

SmogSUX 03-26-10 03:10 AM

Most likely flooded. Pull out the fuse to the fuel pump located in the engine bay..it's labeled. Then crank car for 15 seconds with accelerator to floor. Then put fuse back in and try starting. Report back once you're done.

EDIT: BTW you spelled Stockton wrong lol

bblee 03-26-10 05:18 AM

okay ill let u know tomorrow when im done doing it... thanksSMOGSUS

SmogSUX 03-26-10 06:20 AM

Damzil 03-26-10 10:27 AM

^:lol::lol::lol:

oh and btw since it's auto, if it still doesn't start just junk it.!

RicerJ 03-26-10 12:20 PM

check for a blown fuse in the kick panel section it might be the "engine" fuse check connections if all that checks out then it might be the ignition wire

SmogSUX 03-26-10 05:47 PM

...the kick panel fuses don't keep the motor from starting.

AcidAngel7477 03-26-10 06:42 PM

smogsus...lol.

smogSUX i check what u told me and its fine. the car cranks over but wont start.any other suggestions

SmogSUX 03-26-10 09:30 PM

It's fine? So you deflooded it, then tried to start it AFTER you put the fuse back in?

Next we can try this:

When you turn the key 2 clicks (not cranking yet) can you hear the fuel pump turn on?
Also try to remove the spark plug, but leave it connected to the wire and set it on your UIM and crank it to see if you have spark.

bblee 03-26-10 10:50 PM

okay let me do that and ill let u know about it when im done...

Not thread jacking cause I have the same problem.

Was driving it, died.

Wont start. 3/4ths of a tank of gas, has spark, it wants to turn over if i spray engine starter fluid into the air intake, but only wants to turn over as long as that lasts.

The fuel sending unit is new. So I'm guessing fuse? Also, where do i get a main "80" fuse for the engine bay fuse box? It blew when i accidentally touched the + battery wire to the neg. terminal. So now I cant even try to turn if over.

Here is my diagnosis. Tries to start when a flammable gas is wafted through the air intake, and does not try to when it all gets used up.

So that seems to be the only flammable medium that is being sent into the rotor combustion chamber.

Also, my MAF sensor has a crack in the top little black piece. And when I get to about 75mph my car decides to die.

Ideas?

Are you getting fuel? Check all the fuses in the engine bay. That and the 80 amp fuse I got from Mazda.

I'm pretty sure its flooded. Now...

Whats the largest MAIN fusible link I can use in the engine bay?

Mine WAS a 50 amp before it blew, and I have to wait till Wednesday to get the fuse in from Mazda. Can i use a 40 or a 60? Doesn't have a radio and i don't plan on driving at night till i get it fixed. Substitutes?

I just need something to get the car started and get it home, cause its about 35 miles away, and I need to get it towed.

TeamFervor'sSavannah 03-27-10 04:54 PM

For whatever reason I can't edit my message, I will just relay this one.

I, Am a Dumbtard.

I had the Fusible links box in my hand and was wondering why I couldn't find any 50 amp fuses.

I then looked at the fuse box cover and about shit a brick. 80? Why did that dumb hick bastard stick a 50 amp fuse where an 80 belongs?

SmogSUX 03-27-10 10:21 PM

What was wrong with it?

bblee 03-28-10 01:59 AM

Its Mervin, and no problem man lol

SmogSUX 03-28-10 04:39 AM

ohhhhh it was Mervin! Did he touch in in bad places afterwards?

Mutaku 03-28-10 04:55 AM

Ha ha only you Nick =P

Seriously though it did take me awhile to unflood it. I guess I am out of practice now that I don't drive a blown rotor ha ha

TeamFervor'sSavannah 03-28-10 04:47 PM

Should I be able to hear the fuel pump prime before i start the car?

TeamFervor'sSavannah 03-28-10 06:53 PM

Here is story. Car ran up until about three or four days ago. Not exactly sure what happened, but now it does not run. Car was not in my possession when it decided to not run anymore. Previous owner said it needed a 'jump', he had been driving it about 20 minutes from his house and I found it parked in an Orilleys parking lot. Been un-flooding it all day.

Would the AFM have anything to do with it? There was a wire with a 10A fuse going from one of the fuel pump wires to one of the interior fuses in the front.

Replaced the spark plugs. Ideas?

Fuel Pump was just replaced but i'm going to double check on that.

Also: why can i not edit my previous posts, and why does it say i have only 3 posts?

Are both those fuses good? What exactly happens when you crack? You said you replaced the plugs, where the old ones cover in fuel?
