Interesting things to do in Socal?
I will be visiting SoCal again for 2-3 weeks at the end of June - early July, but with a friend this time. I just came back from SoCal a week ago when I visited during my spring break.
I didn't get to do much while I was in Santa Barbara, L.A. and San Diego during my spring break though. I stayed at my sister's apartment in UCSB and spent 3 days in San Diego (rented a hotel room). I visited the UCSB IV and nearby beaches, and down town Santa Barbara. When I was in San Diego, I visited downtown, Gaslamp (the day the "St. Patrick's Day" party was goin on but I'm 18), and La Jolla. That actually sums up my vacation in SoCal; the rest isn't worth mentioning. This time around, I hope to visit more places especially since I will be bringing a friend and we will be staying for 2-3 weeks. The time in Santa Barbara and SD/LA will probably be divided in twos. Budget is lower because we're both part time working college students and I shouldn't expect my sister to help pay for me and my friend's vacation. Disney Land will probably be out of the question. Budget for each person is around 300 dollars for the whole vacation excluding plane tickets. During our time in SB, we will be staying in my sisters apartment, not sure about SD and LA since we might stay at my sister's BF's apartment in SD. So yeah, how bout some ideas for a cheap but interesting places and things to do in SoCal. I didn't get to see LA at all last time (other than the car dealership where my sister brought her 09 civic coupe and Burbank airport), so some suggestion for places to visit in LA would be nice. |

Go to the Slawson Swapmeet.

Go have a couple cocktails on the roof of The Standard.

Oh and go to Paul's. Hands down the coolest bar I've ever been to. If you like metal, of course.

101fwy get off on melrose, check out Amoeba music. I dunno what you mean by Interesting. I've lived here my whole life, everything here is interesting. Go down melrose or sunset in hollywood, see if you see some cool little venues playing some crappy bands and go in and have a beer. Downtown Fullerton has a lot of bars. Heroes 123 St Louis st or something like that, right off of Harbor blvd and the 91 fwy. Heroes has gigantic beer glasses and all of the bartenders have gigantic tits to match. :D |

I'm also looking at colleges to transfer to. Right now I'm attending a private college in NYC studying Mechanical Engineering and the tuition is too much for the type of experience I'm getting. I want an independent experience like I would get at a university in CA. I am also thinking of switching my major to Transportation Design. So far the only college I know of in SoCal that is well known for that major and is prestigious enough for my liking is Art Center College of Design, but it cost 50k+ a year for me as a NY resident. Any good suggestions for schools would be nice too. |

Thanks, I'll look into those. Having cocktails might be a hard thing to do since I'll only be 19 by June... Unless they don't check ID's.

That's hard though because we have a lot here :( . Being under 21 doesn't help either.

I must have missed that. It's funny because I've met 2cute in person and she is a whole lot cooler face to face rofl. I've had my interweb disputes with her, but I give her props for being a chick in a man's rotary world. Even if she's a Nissan traitor....
