People haven't really committed yet since I still need to get a firm date out of Hayward Mazda. But the interest across the forums shows about 30 people so far, with that expected to double or more by the time the date approaches. It's a decent sized dealership so I would expect the parking capacity to be decent for photo ops.

I may have an idea in the next few days though.

UPDATE!!!

Thanks for everyone's patience.
I just spoke with Hayward Mazda yesterday and it is looking like Sunday the 13th. Sunday ensures we have the service area all to ourselves and is the preferred day by the dealership.

It is taking a bit of time b/c the service director is trying to make some pretty cool things happen for us (special cars and special guests!) and working on some of the ideas suggested by all of you on the forums.
I will have more for everyone as soon as I hear it.

Stay tuned!

It's funny because you're never suppose to bring your 7 to get serviced at a dealership...

What will happen at the meet? Will there be any kind of contest or any kind of excitement? I been to meets and some of them do get boring... and I don't want that to be the same.

Actually, yes. As I've posted earlier--and partly the reason why it's taking so long to post specifics on this meet--is that the service director is trying to arrange for some pretty interesting events: special guests, special cars, autoX seminar, tech talks, behind-the-scenes tours, etc. He's trying to work with their schedules to ensure they're available. I'm pushing the idea for raffles and other bonuses for attending as well.

Stay tuned!

I agree with you in general...which is why I'm hoping to make this meet different and more interesting for everyone.

I can't stand those sit around and bake in the sun while people stay in their little circles meets either

Not yet...dealership is being slower than molasses.

One of the guys over on the 3 forums gave them a call on my behalf and the general manager told him they have a guy working on it and hope to get back to us soon.

Don't worry...I will post as soon as I get an official date and time. Everything's subject to change at the moment. I hope they can make this worth everyone's wait. As I've mentioned elsewhere, they're thinking about making this an annual get together for the Mazda enthusiast community, so it can get pretty huge.

If it was all up to me, everyone's patience would be rewarded!

MAJOR UPDATE!!!!!!!!

Hi All,

I just spoke with the service director at Hayward Mazda (finally!). It's been tough getting in touch with him recently because he was off for several days on vacation attending the SJ Grand Prix and other activities.

The dates for this event are likely to move! Please watch this space for updates soon. All I can say right now is he has been busy working on some amazing stuff for us! Some of that includes:

- Enthusiast Profiles -- something that will identify us as special "enthusiast" guests of the dealership that we can use both to display info on our cars at the meet as well as return visits to the dealership.

- Special Discounts -- discounts on parts and services for attendees!

- Mazda sponsorship -- Mazda is going to be directly involved in this meet to reach out to and support the enthusiast community! More details to follow.

- Special cars and guests

I'm really excited about what he told me is in progess. It's just taking him alot of time to get people to commit to schedules and have everything in place. I should be hearing more soon. So for now, don't plan on the 12th or 13th...I will post new info as soon as everything is locked in.

Thanks for your continued interest and I know this will be a major event not to be missed!

-Jeff
