the i cant find a job rant

ugh shit sucks.. lost my job in march.. so i been bummin it at home since.. moved to perris in june.. *mom wanted a new house* really sucks because theres really not many jobs out here.. mostly labor/warehouse and people around here seem to be fine wiht it. Used to be in school from 02-06 at the community college but my mind always floats elsewhere *usuallyl work and cars* , so i never finished *1 -2 classes here and there etc. I now find it hard for me to concentrate because i will think of othershit*...

I dont know if its the economy or what. I have a background in office type jobs, clerical desk jobs, sales etc. I just feel like maybe the economy has failed me.. Some of my friends are in the same boat as well.. I can guess that sticking around the same people can also bring you down.

Mom wants me to go back to school *like a techincal trade school*, i just dont know how i could afford it.. we now live farther away from any schools, would need enough to pay for gas, expenses, and im 2k in debt to credit cards.. Part time jobs dont really pay enough for what its worth imo.

My only car is my extreme fc, and id worry about driving it everywhere, or leaving it places fear of theft. I hate to think, but maybe i could sell it, pay off my debt and pick up a super cheap car that i wont be tempted to play with... Then there is the idea that i wont have any money to socialize/go clubbing every so often to release stress/meet girls... being single for soo long can get to ya.

One thought was to sell the fc, pick up a cheap car, go to school, then get a job like pizza delivery as a part time... I would have to face people saying to me "dude dont sell your car its soo badass!" etc etc..

Serious mid-20s crisis. =(
My main goal is just to eventually move out of the I.E. and out towards the OC/LA area.. (i find the I.E. depressing, grew up here, and it just doesnt really offer much).

i feel ya bro. im going to wyotech, in 25g for that. in another 3600 for tools (tool boxes are $$$) plus another 700 in ticket fees. ive been job hopping for the last 2 years in the auto industry. think of how shitty the economy is, then remember that 650 dealerships are closing in CA alone, its damned near impossible to get a job in the car biz right now. pretty much all you can do is bide time, bribe someone, or sweet talk your way into something (done it, it works well)
anyways, i feel ya. selling my 7 just to get out of some debt myself, gunna get back into my Z, but times are hard (i guess?)

Tell me about it.

I went to japan in july, hoping to go back to school when i came back as to what i agreed with my parents.

-Parents kicked me out. (They never agreed with my way of life/likes, they did not like the idea of me pursueing car stuff, so they said GTFO...and that is fine. Not the first time or even second time they did this in the past 6 years)
-I left my old job, to come back to a shitty economy in mid august.
-I had about 3000 dollars in debt because i could not find a job fast enough (shitty economy).
-Little savings which got exhausted fast.
-R32 GT-R daily driver (A joint project car with a friend, we can never get rid of it). This is one of the last things that keeps me motivated to do better in life so i can do what i want to do with this thing. I tend to not worry about the car (i am not religious, but i do believe a little in fate/destiny). I figure if i don't do stupid things, things will be better to me.

Luckily some stuff worked out slowly and painfully, i found a decent place to live, paid off my debts (80 percent of it).

Still need a job. Got started detailing cars again on the side to help a little. I will start selling R magic stuff next year on a select basis (this should be some side cash also).

GT-R is doing well at last(needed some fresh oil, plugs, fuel filter, adjusted the TPS, and rebuilt front axles). Car runs like a champ (this always relieves my stress). I am too cheap to blow cash on women that won't put out like the GT-R does.

Hopefully i can be back on my feet by the end of this year, and start tinkering with the car again more next year.

Diversifying income helps a lot in a bad economy. Don't rely on one main job. Do many things on the side to get cash. Compounding it helps.

A car comes and goes u can always get another one, think about what really matters

Hypertek 10-16-08 11:38 AM

thanks guys. I always had my mind set on getting a porsche 911... ill even settle /shoot for a Boxster since it could be easily fetchable... so I think as long as i have that goal *older porsches aint too expensive imo* i will stay motivated..

nettorx7 10-16-08 12:14 PM

wow i guess im not the only one with a little different story. im in debt a lil over 2g's out of work because i messed up my leg pretty bad wont be back to work till feb. right before i messed up my leg my fd bent an apex seal (my fault ran way to low on fuel and went lean). so i to was going to sell my car because i thought i can pay all of my debt off and have some money, but i going to fix her and i have been paying down my debt and i still have a job when im better but i dont know where they are going to put in (bmw of san francisco). so keep your head up and do what you think is best for you.

Then take a warehouse job... in 6 months if you have any head on your shoulders you will be running the warehouse...

and from there it is a quick step to procurement/buyer/expediter and then to procurement manager making $65K + a year.

If all there is, is crappy cheap jobs... take the crappy cheap job and move your way up from there, but even with crappy cheap jobs... at least you are making money and not being a leech- which will help you increase your self esteem and then your desire to do something more fulfilling.

And warehouse jobs are seldom more than 8 hours a day so you have plenty of time to do what you want to do as a hobby.

Shit, I've been in this boat for a while too...

Got laid off, got evicted, got in debt, got a suspended license, locked up, etc... I've been throwing apps in everywhere since I got laid off too, but got nothing back.
But just this last week I found a job online and submitted my resume... didn't hear anything back, but I was too perfect for the job, so I called... and called... and called. Finally got a hold of someone important, and they took a look at my resume.
Had an interview two days ago, and I start work monday. Plus, I'll b a good +$10/hr then my other job.

Shit always works out in the end if you keep your head up and try your damn hardest. Even if things look bad, just remember that it'll get better if you put ur mind to it. Don't stress, because believe me, stress will make everything 10x worse. Instead, handle things one at a time, set goals, and make progress. Everything happens for a reason, and as long as your nose is clean, hopefully that means you'll come out on top in the end.

Beggars can't be choosers.

Take what you can get. These days, people are trying to keep their jobs rather than finding new ones.

Those cheap crappy warehouse jobs are that way people those individuals make it that way. Most 'typical' workers these days don't even put 75% into their job. You'd be surprised what opportunities could open up if you put 100% or more into ANY job.

Especially since you don't have any certificate or degree, it would be hard to start anywhere other than the bottom unless you had hookups or huge amounts of experience in that particular job.

Take what you can get. Work hard. It'll build your self-esteem and confidence. This in turn will make your employers notice you if you are willing to put in the effort. Possible raises and promotions equal more money.

So...

More self-esteem, more confidence, better job and pay = more pussy... =)
No more lonely nights with MYRA..
